Step By Step Montessori of Corcoran

The teachers are the best. Over the 16 years our extended family has been sending kids to school there they have had very little turnover. We love the community we have built with the school and their staff.

When we first toured Step by Step, we were impressed by how things appeared during our tour. We thought it was a good fit for our daughter. We had very high hopes. Over time, we realized that our child had been emotionally abused, physically abused at one point by one of their staff, and then blamed when their lack of supervision left our child outside unattended for 15 minutes. Their explanation for the maltreatment was that she was a very willful child and that because they didn't appropriately watch her, she would be unenrolled. She's three years old. For her wellbeing, we pulled her and reported the incident to DHS. Our child, to this day, still has issues that were largely created from this center's neglectful care. Don't believe the tour. If your child has any needs that require compassion, don't expect to get it here. We were told, right as our child turned three and entered a new room that she was not a good fit for Montessori. This is dogma, nothing more, and harmful to the children in it when its delivered as continuous exclusion, constant shaming, and in some cases, abuse. Please do yourself a favor and reconsider sending your child to this facility.

The staff and environment is amazing at the Corcoran Step By Step. Kim and Jennine are so hospitable and welcoming from when you first enter the building to when you leave after being a veteran family. They are incredibly helpful with schedules and registration and any other questions that may come up. It's so refreshing to walk into an administrator's office and always feel welcomed and validated. The atmosphere in the building feels safe, warm and loving which is exactly what a parent wants to feel when they choose a childcare provider. Our family has experience with one other daycare which didn't give us any troubling issues, but it was like a breath of fresh air to send our daughter to Step By Step because it was like we didn't know what the daycare experience could really be like until we came here. The teachers are also amazing because there is a genuine focus on well-being and learning for the kids. They have been so amazing with any rising concerns and they keep open communication for any issue or question that may pop up. The classroom environment stimulates brain growth in personal/social and academic skills. The focus isn't just on numbers, letters and rules, it's all ecompassing in everyday life skills to higher-level thinking for each age group. If a parent is looking for concrete evidence to support these statements, they only need to look to the fact that teacher turnover is at an absolute minimum as many of the staff have been there for years. Also, the daycare is always full with waitlists for more kids to join and most people who send their kids here, did so initially because of a recommendation from another parent who has experienced Step By Step Corcoran. Everyone I meet that sends their child to this daycare is always more than satisfied with their experience; they love it...and so do we! Thank you for everything you do for us!!!

We absolutely love Step by Step! Our son has been enrolled here since July and we have seen such an improvement in his speech and are amazed at how much he’s learning! Ms Nancy in the toddler room is so great - nice, patient and very communicative. The entire staff is so kind! *update as of July 2025 - both my sons are there now, one in the infant room and one in the toddler 2 room and one we still cannot say enough good things about Step by Step and all of the staff here! Everyone is fantastic and so caring and organized! We will have our boys enrolled here until they go to kindergarten. - Ashley Malzahn

We have had children attending Step by Step- Corcoran location for over six years (three children) and we love it. It is a safe and loving environment that is created by the staff each and every day. They are amazing teachers and individuals. While we are at work, we have no worries that our children are in great care. Our children have and will enter the public school system more than prepared to succeed immediately. We recommend Step by Step Montessori to any family looking for a wonderful place to care for their children during the day. You will not be disappointed!
