They are allowing adults without background checks around children. I toured pillars when I was getting ready to go back to work after maternity leave. I asked, as all parents should, if the adults interacting with children from the senior living/assisted living undergo background checks. The answer is no! I confirmed this in-person and via email follow-up. They claim DHS doesn’t require this because the seniors are not left alone with the children and do not change diapers. If you seriously think that’s the only time abuse or grooming can occur, that’s a very naive conception. Also, DHS has violations against their license for— guess what— children being improperly supervised by staff! In this day and age, we should all know better and do better for children.
Emily VJan 11, 2026Two of my children went here from when they were tiny babies until school age! We were so sad to go. The experienced teachers collaborated with us every step of the way and treated our children like their own. Pillars is unique in that it offers inter generational care, plenty of fun parties and activities, outings in the community and more. I couldn’t recommend this place enough! It’s a hidden gem!
Jenna UrbainOct 2, 2024Both of my girls go here and I cannot say enough good things. The staff at every age are awesome and so caring and engaged with the kids. The intergenerational programming is very unique and my kids love seeing their "grand friends." I would recommend this center to anyone looking!!
Jana GormanAug 16, 2024Two of our children attended Pillars for close to 3 years. We were so sad when our youngest graduated. She loved going here and had great relationships with her teachers and friends. We loved the teaching staff the most. They were actively engaged and truly cared about our kids. The programming and activities with the grandfriends were just what our kids needed. Our family highly recommends the Pillars Child Care!
Brooke KaneyJul 13, 2024My almost 5-year old daughter has attended Pillars for nearly 3 years and we've seen her grow so much socially in that time with the help of Pillars staff. Everyone is friendly and supportive and center/classroom updates are communicated effectively, and the space is well-kept. Our family also appreciates the inter-generational programming available to expand our daughter's perspective of who is in her village. :) We recommend the Pillars to everyone!
Ashlee CermakJun 15, 2024What a great childcare center! The programming offered by the Pillars is so unique and engaging. Cultural celebrations, library engagement, intergenerational volunteers, and so much more. We enrolled our infant son and immediately were welcomed by friendly staff. We have been very happy with the care and communication that we received by everyone at the Pillars. We would highly recommend Pillars to anyone looking for engaging, active childcare.
