  • Many of the workers there are quite good with children and well intentioned; however, our overall experience ended negatively. My two year old toddler was ultimately expelled from this daycare for: "running away from us"; "not listening"; "throwing himself on the floor and not getting up" when they told him to do so. Essentially, having the minor tantrums that are commonplace for every two year old. The staff oddly dramatized this behavior into the category of "safety and liability issues" after they sent us a text message at 10am on a workday, citing that their staff members cannot physically pick a 2 year old up being a reason that my child is a safety hazard. I'm honestly not sure why a daycare would hire people unable to physically lift or socially manage small children to work in a daycare. As a kicker, they suggested my child "be evaluated" by psychiatric professionals. I was too insulted and angry at their suggestion that a toddler having a fit that typically lasts less than a minute be evaluated for psychological defects, to ask for clarification of the comment. Such a statement speaks volumes about their concern and regard for the children in their care. It honestly makes me glad these things came up sooner instead of later as I do not want him being cared for by anyone with such a negative view of him or any other children. The insinuation that any child, especially such a young one, has deep mental defects, and should possibly be put on medication, simply because they throw fits or run around when they aren't supposed to is, frankly, absurd and implicitly and potentially harmful. Such feelings easily manifest themselves in daily interactions and can cause the impressionable child to believe what the adult believes about them. Such a despicable and cynical view of children should not exist in people purporting to be their caretakers. Nevermind the fact that none of them, to my knowledge, are certified or qualified to make such bold statements or suggestions regarding the psychological health of children. Another issue was the urgent text message sent regarding his immediate and permanent expulsion. Both highly unprofessional and undercuts their assertion that my child was so much of a public menace that he required immediate expulsion for the safety of the staff and other children. Professional etiquette dictates a phone call to ask for an in person parental meeting under such circumstances. Additionally, if he was such a danger to everyone around him, why not call to elicit a faster response from the parent? All that said, no child is perfect, and mine certainly isn't. He's stubborn and occasionally insubordinate and he definitely throws himself on the ground when he doesn't get his way. He runs away sometimes because he likes to play chase and he wants to them to play with him. This is all pretty common two year old behavior. Otherwise, he is sweet, happy, and playful. Always smiling and laughing. Ultimately, I am glad to have him removed from what seems like a possibly toxic environment, I am just unhappy with the level of professionalism of the staff. I found out later from someone close to the situation that they had another child they wanted to get into their daycare, but since the daycare was at capacity, they needed to have another child leave. Apparently, my kid was the one they chose to replace. Obviously, I would not recommend this daycare.
