  • DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE IF you value transparency and honesty from your child’s teachers. Throughout the eight months our child attended, these people lied so many times about how well he was doing, and then out of nowhere decided they weren’t skilled enough for him to stay. Specifically the older toddler class taught by Karina and Lexie. Both of them lie like it’s their full time jobs, and when confronted with it, will blame it on ‘miscommunication’. Our kid was showing signs that he didn’t like the teachers, and we couldn’t understand why, but now we do. Since he’s left this place, he has been doing SO amazing! And we should’ve removed him a long time ago. The only person we’ve dealt with that seems remotely competent at La Luz is Ms. Arlene in the front office, and the cook. Please do your research and use your discernment before wasting your time here.

  • I’m writing this review after 3 years of attending this daycare. I’m a foster parent so I have multiple kids in multiple age groups in this daycare. I also have seen many of the daycares around the city. So I’m going to tell you what I LOVE about this daycare. 1. It is ran like a school, and they care about your child’s development, not just keeping them alive. 2. They move up every year just like school and the teachers move with them. 3. The food they feed the babies is homemade and they feed them enough so everyone is full. They have an open kitchen so you can see the kids food being made, and it’s healthy food from Costco, pretty much the same healthy foods I feed them at home. 4. They are very structured, so the babies have a routine and they thrive on it. 5. The teachers are very involved with the kids, in all of my 3 years, I’ve never walked in to kids being ignored or neglected. I’ve never walked in to teacher sitting and gossiping or playing on their phones. It’s always professional and good care. 6. It’s always clean, and well maintained. 7. The administration is friendly and competent. 8. The teachers are wonderful 9. The cook is very talented. 10. My babies LOVE school.

  • I thought it was a great school until I brought up concerns. The third time I shared my concerns I was told "We feel after much deliberation that it would be best to disenroll EB, effective immediately. There have been some unsolved issues that we cannot meet which makes this student/school relationship extremely difficult to appease." I was searching for resolution for both parts then she emailed me this which also left me in a very tight spot. Daycares in my area have wait lists for 2 years out. Some of the teachers can be very rude when you do bring things to there attention so I did go to higher up she couldn't help. I also have walked in on teachers yelling at kids and twice with my own child which I tried to be understanding and put myself in their shoes that was one of the concerns. Another was heaing my son say teachers were mad at him all the time and calling himself a naughty boy or know one likes him (he is 3 years old) when I would tell him he did a good job on things. Another one was leaving him out on his birthday no pictures or birthday video like they did for other kids in class even belated birthdays for them mind you I did take cupcakes in. Very unprofessional setting or maybe they didn't know how to handle my concerns when it came to my child. So it is best we disenroll because he was there a year and some months and still having a hard drop off almost every morning. Could be a good fit for some but not good for us.

  • Very clean, knowledgeable on child care and education, and long term employee's! I love this daycare because children are valuable to them and not just a number. Ratio for infants is 3.5 to 1. Great investment.

  • Amazing, Friendly, Approachable, Organized, Terrific! I can not say enough good things about La Luz!!! My kiddo has been with me for the first 3 years of his life, so I was very worried about sending him to preschool. La Luz keeps me from feeling guilty. They helped with his transition and were very patient. Drop offs and pick ups are easy now. I know he is getting HEALTHY meals and snacks which takes off the stress of having to pack him lunch. He is learning so much and I love hearing about his day. The teachers are all so loving and I feel content that my kiddo is with them. I highly recommend sending your little ones to La Luz!

  • While there are many options for child care in Albuquerque, La Luz stands well above the other options in Albuquerque. The place is set back from any major roads unlike many care centers. It shares the building with only a credit union so traffic is minimal. One must use a code to get in and out of the school. The classrooms are delightful, bright, and gently stimulating (as opposed to over-stimulating as many centers are or dungeon-like as others). The play areas outside are divided by age and truly age-appropriate. The teachers genuinely care about my kids-no question there. I can say that I adore their teachers and would have hired them myself. Love them! The management are on their A-game always. They are approachable in person and super responsive by phone/email. The support staff are great too, always friendly and helpful; they greet my babies by name. The chef (yes, there is a dedicated chef) makes healthy, well-balanced meals daily with fresh ingredients. There is no sopa de cano here. Also, they are nut-free and manage food allergies and intolerances well. The children learn, yes, learn through play and gentle guidance, even the young toddlers (1 to 2 year olds). My younger son started pushing in his chair at his little table at home. He picks up his laundry and puts it in the basket. He brings me random things found on the floor demanding the name for the things and an explanation for their presence (say pieces of lint or such). He is 16 months old. My older son comes home with an array of experiences to share, especially things he learns in story time. He has an entire repertoire of songs he learned at school and just loves his time there. He is 3. My kids are flourishing there. Granted, they are absolutely fabulous kids, but La Luz has something to do with their flourishing too! The waitlist is long for a reason. Get on it.
