Great Neck Community School is such a wonderful and amazing school! My son went there for PreK and camp, and he thrived so well there! The teachers and the entire staff are so loving, caring, and supportive. He loved waking up and going to school everyday happy. My only regret is that I didn’t find this school sooner so he could have done his 2s and 3s there bc they are sooo amazing and he is going to miss everyone at the school!
Cindy ParkJun 27, 2026I went here from 1964 to 1965.
Robert PearlmanJun 12, 2026We had a wonderful experience at Great Neck Community School with our son, who attended for one year as a four-year-old. The teachers truly care about the children and create a warm, supportive environment that helps them grow with confidence. We always felt positive about the care and attention he received, and we highly recommend this school to other families looking for a nurturing early childhood program.
Y XAug 26, 2025We truly believe this is the best community school we could have chosen for our daughter. From the leadership team to every teacher and staff member, the dedication and warmth are second to none. The curriculum is well balanced, combining strong academics with creativity, social-emotional growth, and a genuine sense of community. Our daughter loves going to school every single day, and we have full confidence she is receiving the best possible start in her education. We feel incredibly fortunate to be part of this outstanding school. We will definitely see all staffs again in 2 years for my 2nd kid.
Weidong ShenAug 24, 2025In 2024, both of my children were enrolled at Great Neck Community School (GNCS), and unfortunately, our experience was extremely negative. In my opinion, the leadership at the school, including current Director and Co-Chairs (two of whom remain in leadership positions for the 2024-2025 school year), created an environment that was deeply unsupportive and distressing for my family. Ultimately, I felt I had no choice but to withdraw both of my children before the term ended due to concerns over their safety. After raising concerns about certain policies and leadership decisions, I believe my family was unfairly targeted. Shockingly, my two-year-old child was portrayed in a way that directly contradicted months of positive behavioral reports from teachers. This left me feeling that leadership was more focused on defending its own decisions than supporting children and families. Additionally, GNCS received an official violation from the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) in 2024, further reinforcing my concerns about how the school was being run. In my experience, the lead teacher was placed in an incredibly difficult position, as I have a recording where the Director pressured her to change her reports regarding my child. Not long after expressing concerns to the current Director about potential retaliation, my child's teacher resigned. It was heartbreaking to witness what I saw as intimidation tactics used against staff. Beyond the school setting, I was deeply disturbed to find that board members and the current director appeared to be working together in online discussions that I believe misrepresented my child and my family. I have screenshots of what I perceived as coordinated efforts to shape a false narrative, which left me feeling unwelcome and forced out. In my opinion, GNCS leadership prioritizes its own interests over the well-being of families and staff. Based on my personal experience, I would not recommend this school to families seeking a supportive and ethical environment for their children. If you value open communication, respect, and integrity in leadership, I strongly encourage you to do thorough research before considering GNCS. No family should experience what my family went through.
P TFeb 28, 2025Our son completed the 2's program and is now in the 3's program. All of the staff members are amazing and they have been taking care of him really well. He has grown up so much at GNCS and my wife and I are forever grateful. The teachers are super caring and patient with the children and I feel really lucky to be able to send our son here for early childhood education.
