My son has been attending Hip Hippo - a hidden gem in Park Slope - for the last 9+ months, and I can't recommend it more highly. Hip Hippo has been an extraordinarily loving and supportive environment for my youngest and the perfect introduction to a group early childhood setting. Sylwia herself is an experienced early childhood educator, all of the teachers are warm and kind, and they have created an intimate, mixed-age program that offers the perfect mix of play and early learning activities for my two-year-old. Sylwia goes above and beyond, preparing healthy meals and snacks throughout the day (even accommodating my son's preferences), organizing creative art and science projects, and bringing the children outside every day in the program's beautiful private outdoor space. Rather than rush you out the door, Sylwia and her team also take the time to talk to you at pick-up about your child's day, what they learned, and how they were feeling - and are always happy to answer questions or discuss how your child is progressing socially or with other milestones (e.g., potty training). This level of open, proactive communication has not only been a real comfort to me as a parent but has also strengthened my connection with my son; we enjoy talking about his friends and the activities of the day on the walk home. I trust Sylwia completely with my son's care and feel so grateful to have met her. While we're sad to be saying goodbye in the fall when my son starts 3-K at a nearby school, we're glad to know that means another family will be able to experience this wonderful program.
Alyson SilkowskiJun 9, 2026Our daughter has been attending hip hippo since she was 9 months old and she has really thrived here. She loves going to Hip Hippo everyday and Sylwia and rest of the staff are genuinely excited to care for her. We did lots of homework and research when we choose daycare, while there are lots of good options in the neighbourhood, Sylwia’s genuine love for kids and her ECE background and approach to children immediately stood out And boy did we make the right choice, our daughter loves it here, since this is a mixed age daycare from 4-6 months to 2/3 year olds, she has made friends similar to her age, but also was “immersed” in what the bigger kids were doing and learned words so fast. They have activities everyday, music class, cooking class, cultural activities. They have a mini playground in the backyard which she very much enjoys. We cannot recommend it enough
Han Sen ZuoApr 28, 2026We love Hip Hippo! Our daughter began when she was about 7 months old and has thrived so much and loves it there too! She's a little over 2 now, and can count to 20, knows all of her colors and letters, and so much more. It's small (under 15 kids total) and mixed ages from 6 months to 3/4 year olds. The babies 'grow up' with the bigger kids, and the bigger kids learn to help the little ones. Each day there is a 'class' (cooking, art, music, science, etc.) and each week / month there is a learning theme. They have a backyard and go outside to play almost everyday if the weather is permitting. In the summer, they spend a lot of time outside playing on the water table. The small group of teachers have an education background and are like family, and truly care about your child and their development. Meals and snack are provided, which makes it so much easier. Couldn't recommend more!
Holly GressleyApr 18, 2026We absolutely love Hip Hippo! Our son has been there for over 9 months and is thriving. Sylwia is just incredible as are all the other teachers - our son leaps into their arms every morning. They do thoughtful and age appropriate activities everyday, have a wonderful backyard and even do get-togethers for parents around holidays. We cannot recommend them enough!!!
Maya LandMay 4, 2025Our son has been attending Hip Hippo Daycare for the past year. He loves going to daycare, runs right in everyday! Sylwia and her team are fantastic. Our son has learned so much and has made wonderful friends! He comes home with beautiful art projects. Our son has a food allergy, and Sylwia and her team are very careful and take it seriously. We know he is safe everyday. We have another baby on they way and cannot wait for them to experience Hip Hippo as well!
Rachel GottliebMar 4, 2024Hip Hippo Daycare has been a game-changer for our family! Our daughter attended for three years, and we couldn't be happier with the experience. The variety of activities they offer, from science experiments to cooking and music, kept her engaged and excited to learn every day. The meals and snacks they provide are not only healthy but also delicious, giving us peace of mind about her nutrition while she's away from home. But what truly sets Hip Hippo apart is its amazing teachers Ms Sylwia, Anna, Ola, Jessica and Ellen. They are dedicated, caring, and skilled at what they do. Plus, the low turnover means our daughter formed strong bonds with them over the years. If you're looking for a daycare where your child will thrive both academically and emotionally, Hip Hippo is the place to be. We highly recommend it!
