  • We've been so grateful to have our son and daughter (now 10 and 7) be a part of the Stepping Stones family for several years. Our daughter attended pre-K, and extended-day, and both our children have done their wonderful summer camp program. Now that they are in grade school (at PS 185 across the street), we have been lucky to be able to have them continue at Stepping Stones for afterschool. It is a truly special place, every teacher we've encountered has been kind, nurturing, and truly attentive to our kids. The directors are very present and involved and you can really feel the effort they put in to make Stepping Stones special. Whether it's homework help, creative activities during the school year, or spontaneous trips for ice cream and park play, our children always come home happy and excited. The Brightwheel app updates (daily notes, photos, and videos) have also given us so much peace of mind and made communication effortless in both their 3K/Pre-K and now after school programs. We can't recommend Stepping Stones enough. If you're looking for an early childhood center in Bay Ridge, this place is a real gem.

  • Stepping Stones has been a wonderful preschool experience for our family. Without question, it is also the best childcare setting we’ve had for our children. As a full-time working parent, I’ve had a range of experiences with childcare over the years, including other Bay Ridge day cares and babysitters that often left me feeling uncertain or never fully at ease. Stepping Stones has been completely different. From day one—when my son started in their two-year-old program—I’ve felt a level of trust and consistency that has made a real difference in our daily lives. My son is often one of the first children dropped off in the morning and one of the last picked up in the afternoon, and even with those long days, I have never once worried about him while he is there. I know he is safe, cared for, and genuinely looked after by people who know him well. Communication with families is also excellent. I always feel informed about his day and connected to what he is learning and experiencing. What stands out most about Stepping Stones is the overall environment. The school feels warm, structured, and thoughtfully run. There is always something happening that makes the children feel engaged and valued—whether it’s a celebration, a project, a special event, or a simple classroom moment that brings joy to their day. Learning is made fun and meaningful, and my son has grown not only academically but socially and emotionally as well. He has learned how to be a friend, how to be part of a community, and how to take pride in himself and his accomplishments. Friendship is perhaps the greatest gift Stepping Stones has given my son. He met his best friends there, and as parents, we've built meaningful friendships as well. The children from my son’s class have gone to countless birthday parties, park playdates, ice cream outings, and visits to indoor play spaces together. Watching our children learn, play, celebrate milestones, and grow together has been such a gift. The relationships formed within this community are something our family will always cherish. We know that Stepping Stones has provided a strong foundation for our son's future while also creating memories that our family will treasure forever. We look forward to sending our younger children to Stepping Stones when they are old enough.

  • I cannot say enough wonderful things about Stepping Stones. My daughter started there when she was 2 years old. She is now 4 and has really flourished. She has learned so much academically but also socially. The owners, administrators and teachers are all amazing. I always knew my little girl was well taken care of and safe. During the pandemic they transitioned to zoom classes and did a fabulous job. They also opened for day camp and although I was a bit conflicted about sending my little one there with Covid-19 concerns, I decided to enroll her. I couldn’t see her being cooped-up at home all summer and I had every confidence that Stepping Stones would provide a safe environment for the kids. I’m so glad I did. My daughter is having the best time at camp and they have every safety measure in place. Stepping Stones is more than a school, it’s a family.

  • Excellent nursery school having a stellar reputation in Bay Ridge that is well earned. We have sent two of our children here and found the experience to be above our expectations. The school has gone out of their way to accommodate individual needs and provide unmatched flexibility. We like the daily reports, the frequent communication, responsiveness, and organized, well thought out curriculum. Stepping Stones has been an important part of our family for several years now and we highly recommend the school to our friends and neighbors.

  • Stepping Stones has been wonderful for our daughter. We started this year in the Twos and there was no question that we wanted to stay through summer camp and the Threes. We couldn’t be happier and are so grateful to have found a program that has allowed our daughter to thrive.

  • I would recommend Stepping Stones for any parent that looking for a school with a great curriculum that also keeps the children engaged and entertained. My daughter has attended Stepping Stones since 2 1/2 years old. She started out very shy and now she comes home telling me all about the fun day she had. All of her teachers are lovely and nurturing. My husband I could not be happier.
