Great chabad house. Rabbi Yacov Saacks is an amazing Rabbi friendly and knowledgeable. If you live in the Dix hills area and you're looking for a warm inspiring community this is the place for you. There's also an active morning minyan which is very helpful if you have meetings in suffolk county.
Ronnie AviviJul 20, 2026Excellent school!
Shenille SeidMay 9, 2026My siblings and I went here for Hebrew school when I was younger and my family would go for holidays sometimes. genuinely one of the worst experiences. The kids were so mean and the teachers had zero control over the class. Almost every person there were snobs. Basically if you didn’t have a lot of money you weren’t important there. Even though it was supposed to be about religion and god and caring for others, it was absolutely not. I strongly disliked going there because of how the children and adults would act. And the rabbis were very unfriendly.
ariel hJan 5, 2026Rabbi Saks is a MENCH! The SHUL for all!!!! Not at all like the others ,people are down to earth and make you really feel welcomed. No INSIDE CLIQUES!
P HDec 13, 2019What can I say - Gd works here ! Very warm, inviting place. Although it is orthodox, it is comfy and easy. The Rabbis and everyone's mission is to make everyone welcome. And all without the bills of other temples. It's about spirituality here, not the shackles.
Steven GildinFeb 7, 2019Great Chabad Center. Rebbe and Rebbeztin are less welcoming than other centers but plenty of services and day school and classes. Great community.

Questions parents ask about The Chai Center
Is The Chai Center a licensed child care provider in New York?
- Yes. The Chai Center holds New York registration 665569, listed as "LICENSE" by the Office of Children and Family Services, issued on June 24, 2024 and current through June 23, 2028. Confirm current standing with OCFS before enrolling.
What kind of child care is The Chai Center?
- New York licenses The Chai Center as a Day Care Center (DCC), which is centre-based care in non-residential premises. The category comes from the state's own register, not from the provider.
What ages does The Chai Center care for?
- New York licenses The Chai Center for 10 toddler places and 53 preschool places. Each figure is a ceiling the state set, not current enrolment.
Which school district is The Chai Center in?
- The Chai Center sits in the Half Hollow Hills school district, in Suffolk County. New York records the district on the licence, which matters for school-age care and transport.
Does this page show inspection results for The Chai Center?
- No. New York's public child care roster carries no violation or inspection fields, and no separate statewide dataset of them was found, so nothing here reflects The Chai Center's inspection history either way. Look the provider up in the OCFS child care search to read its violations and whether they were corrected.
