Recent parent reviews
I am writing this review as a very PLEASED parent of children that attend Wee Folk Childcare Center. From the moment we toured Wee Folk we received the utmost care. We knew immediately that this would be a wonderful facility and atmosphere for our children to learn and grow in their young and most impressionable years! Of course, as a nervous mom of the first born, I was concerned since my child has 2 significant & severe food allergies. Wee Folk went above and beyond to ensure that my child was ALWAYS safe. When you entered their room, it was posted on the wall that there are allergies to be aware of. Even if there were to be a change of staff- it was bold and apparent that there were foods that needed to be avoided in that room. Lisa, the owner, was very thorough with all the paperwork and information that they needed from the doctor. They even required specifications on the potential variations of preparation of these foods in which my child could or couldn’t have. We also needed to have up-to-date medications on site in the event of an emergency- which we have never had to use. When I pick my children up from Wee Folk, they don’t want to leave! And that is a statement in itself. The staff truly care for the children as if they were their own. They are always doing fun, innovative and educational activities. They also offer the most creative seasonal events and opportunities for the children!!! This fall one of my children started school and Wee Folk was able to accommodate my child getting the school bus from their location the days that my younger child attends there. This is such a life saver as I am able to drop both children off at the same location even though their destinations are different. It’s a great accommodation for working families and this option is offered for many of the local schools in district. At the beginning of the school year we had a school district bussing issue. Although it did not directly involve Wee Folk, the staff there surpassed their normal duties to make calls and assist us in resolving the issue in a very scary circumstance where we were panicked parents. They were so very supportive and I will never forget how they comforted me. Lisa and the staff then took follow up steps, with the bussing company, to ensure something like that would never happen again. These were actions that I did not ask of them, they just truly cared for my child and wanted to help. We are forever grateful. After this school bussing event, I was thanking the Wee Folk staff for all they did and one of the staff responded (in words I will never forget) “I care for these children as if they were my own.” Isn’t that the care that every parent looks for from a day care/ pre-k facility? In conclusion, to any parent reading this and considering Wee Folk as an addition to their child’s life… I say, “YES!” with a very high recommendation!
Kate WestinOct 5, 2022My daughter has been attending Wee-Folk for almost 2 years now. She has an egg allergy that an epi pen is prescribed for...necessary precautions are always taken to ensure she is safe. Additionally, she has moderate seasonal eczema -- the staff communicates with us when she has a flair up and happily follows any directions we talk to them about. The safety and well being of our daughter has never been a concern of ours. We appreciate the staff very much and are grateful for their genuine concern and diligence with her allergy issues.
sarahOct 5, 2022Not happy. Just picked up my daughter from daycare and they were in the middle of snack time. They offered to let her take the snack home. First question I had was, "Why does my DAIRY FREE daughter, have Cheez-Its?" "Those don't have dairy in them." "Since when?" they check the box...and sure enough there's milk in there. Supposedly this is the first time this has ever happened to her, but my daughter has had countless nights where she is gassy or has very bad diapers and we couldn't figure out why. They also told us that they've given her goldfish crackers before. Supposedly those are also "dairy free" but every box of goldfish crackers I've ever looked at has proclaimed "Made with real cheese." I asked to see the box and was told that they don't have any in stock. Suffice it to say I'm not a happy camper, and the nonchalant attitude and the deflection of "Oh this has never happened before" doesn't sit well with me. Supposedly the teacher that is normally in her room when they hand out snacks wasn't there until after snacks were passed out. I took one look at what she was eating and figured out something was wrong. This is the same teacher that told me that the cheez its were dairy free....so which is it, she's never had the cheez its before, or "they're dairy free" and not a problem. Luckily my daughter doesn't have severe/anaphylactic reactions to dairy, but I suspect it's going to be another night of her crying in our bed with stomach cramps "for no reason."
Ian KuhnOct 4, 2022Our family has been apart of Wee-Folk Child Care Center for the last 5yr. The staff are friendly, caring, supportive to the children and accommodating to families. My children have made some great friends and look forward to going to "school" on the days they attend. When we leave the kids feel the need to say good bye to all the staff on our way out and have smiles on their faces when i pick them up. We talk about their day when we get home and the things they did that day. The activities they do with the kids are great. They have a place they can use ride on toys inside if the weather is not great outside. In the summer they have slip in slide days, beach walks, age appropriate fenced in areas, they work on development skills (writing, cutting, coloring, etc) and much more. I recommend them to anyone i know looking for childcare.
Amanda BratekAug 12, 2021I thank god every day for Lisa and her staff at Wee-Folk day care. They saved us from a truly sad situation and Our 3 and 6 year old grandchildren love it there. It’s such a wonderful thing to be able to go to work each day knowing that the staff treat my grandchildren so lovingly. I don’t know what we would have done without them. You will not be disappointed if you choose them.
Amy JakubusJun 10, 2019I don’t even know where to begin! WE LOVE WEE FOLK. My first child, my son went there back in 2006, and as a young mother, they really helped to make us both feel safe and comfortable and that put me at ease when finishing school and returning to work. My son still remembers everyone to this day (not just papa David, but Lisa and Mary Sue, etc) , and how much fun he had and how good they were to him. He even went there for before and after care up to the age of 11. Those memories i know he will have forever. Flash, ten years later I had my daughter and the first place I thought of and called was of course wee folk! I was so happy to hear that Lisa had taken over, and even happier that she remebered us! They treat my daughter as their own, and we are truly blessed. Let me tell you my daughter doesn’t just like anyone, but when she came here it was like family. They go above and beyond with following feeding requests, healthy meals and snacks, accommodations, activities, creative and meaningful crafts, ETC ETC. And let me just say kristen and Katie in the infant room.... WE LOVE THEM, they are baby whisperers. It is definitely not an easy task to take on other peoples children, who each have different needs and parental demands, on top of following the many rules and regulations that are constantly changing. I mean they are with the kids more than most parents are! But Lisa and all of the staff at wee folk go above and beyond for my children, and i cannot speak highly enough about them, we no longer even live in Hamburg and drive 20-30 minutes out of our way just to take our babygirl here!!! And if you don’t take my word for it...then let the numbers speak because they have a ton of happy kids (of course with the proper teacher to child ratio lol) and parents who go there...and i know there are many more who are waiting! Thank you so much Wee Folk! I will continue to recommend you to everyone we know!
