  • My children attended this daycare nearly 4 years ago when they were 4 years old. At the time, I was frequently called to pick them up due to constant crying and was told they were experiencing severe separation anxiety. Recently, both of my children (now 8 years old ) independently began sharing memories from their time there that have deeply concerned me. They described being shut alone in a dark room when upset and have stated that staff would scream at them while they were crying. Whether intentional or not, the experience appears to have had a lasting emotional impact on them, including ongoing fear surrounding being left alone in the dark. One of the most upsetting moments for me as a parent was being shown a video of my daughter during a meltdown while waiting for me to pick her up. In the video, she was visibly distressed and crying, and I did not observe any staff attempting to comfort or calm her. I could hear Terri in the background telling her she needed to stop crying. That interaction stayed with me long after we left the facility. This is the same director who told me my daughter was mentally disabled and suggested I quit my job and seek disability benefits for her. After years in school since leaving the daycare, my daughter has thrived academically and socially, and no school professionals have raised concerns of that nature. The constant calls to pick my children up ultimately forced me to leave my job because I could no longer maintain reliable childcare. At the time, I truly believed my children were simply struggling with severe separation anxiety. Hearing years later what they say they experienced in that environment has been heartbreaking and has changed how I view that period entirely. Because of our experience, I felt it was important to file a complaint with the Oregon Office of Child Care. I encourage parents to ask detailed questions about disciplinary practices, emotional support, and how children are handled when distressed.

  • Our child really enjoyed attending Blue Skies and butterflies. They are very flexible and when we were there they served meals which was very convenient and helped financially. The owner and staff were great to work with. Our child still talks about having gone there and we would have brought our youngest if we lived closer. Thank you for doing a great job!

  • We needed a safe place to take our daughter and we really lucked out by finding Blue Skies. They worked with us on many occasions when we needed special meal plans with the food we sent with her, extra flexibility for keeping her enrolled when we were exploring options, and lots of patience and understanding for our case. I'm so grateful for the year and a half plus our daughter was enrolled here because it was a place of calm and stability for her, and she was able to be herself and have fun. She grew so much while she was there and we miss the place and all her teachers. The facility is a great size, the staff were always good to her, the COVID protocols were followed whenever there was a concern, and I could always count on the staff to be an extension of my parenting style. Peace of mind for me and the kiddo always had a good time there.

  • Happy to have both of our kids at a reliable and flexible daycare center. The brightwheel app has been a great addition to keep us current with updates + pictures. They are COVID-conscious, something that is very important to me. Our toddler is always bringing home art + singing songs that he learned from teachers Raidyn & Chrissy. He learns funny faces from teacher Kristen :) Our 1-year old has been in the baby's cottage with teachers Chelsea & Brittany since she was 5 months old. They are like family to us at this point. Highly recommend this daycare!

  • We have been looking for a daycare for our 3 year old. He has been asked to leave another center and can definitely be challenging to work with in a daycare center environment. I met the owner and was incredibly clear about everything they would experience with him and said he would need several weeks to adjust to the new environment. The owner met us and agreed to take him. He went to his first day at the center. I checked in mid day to see how he was doing, and Terri (the owner) reported that he wasn't napping, and was trying to eat other children's food, but nothing alarming or unexpected. When I picked him up from the center the afternoon "teacher" said she thought he had done ok but didn't really know as she hadn't been there all day. She then asked me to take all of his things home with us (after being called away from the door and having a whispered conversation with another "teacher") and said she needed to make him a cubby and didn't want to leave his things sitting out. I thought that was odd, but didn't question her. I then got a call from the owner about 30 minutes after we got home saying that he wouldn't be a good fit, and she proceeded to outline a litany of issues they had with him that day. None of the behaviors she outlined (outside of claiming he was spitting which nobody has ever seen him do) should have been a surprise to them, I told them clearly that he was going to have a tough time adjusting to the routine, and would be very difficult at first. I'm not sure if they just didn't believe me, or that the head teacher met him after the owner had already accepted him and felt like she didn't want to invest the time. I'm disappointed in this facility for wasting our time. They had every opportunity to say no to his behaviors prior to him starting there. So if you have a child who doesn't do anything unexpected or challenging this might be a great center for you, but if you need someone who will invest any extra time into helping your family or helping a child who has been through a lot in their life, then keep looking.

  • Couldn’t be more pleased. My daughter now 8 and son now 5 have been going here since they were 6 weeks. The staff has been consistent, for several years. Every child, and parents are treated as family. I would never change my daycare. Covid-19 has definitely taken a toll on our lives, Blueskies and butterflies has most definitely played a positive, structured roll during these challenging times. There is Covid-19 protocols posted on the door in each classroom as well as an illness policy and a holiday closure list. Every family I see in the mornings are smiling and happy to drop off. Thanks guys for being so awesome!
