I was not ready emotionally to put my almost 3 years old son in a school. My son and I came to creative children's center to check it out as a potential school for the following year. My son instantly loved the classroom set up and fit right in. Teacher Lucy observed that and recommended we do a full day observation to see if it is the right fit. My son and I fell in love with the implied philosophy of the school and the knowledgeable, helpful and caring staff and ended up signing him up right away. We have been here for 2 years and have recommended the school to other friends who have done and loved the creative summer camps. I absolutely recommend the school to everyone who wants a school that encourages learning through play, imagination, diversity, outdoors play and independence.
Rana SchnaubeltJan 11, 2018I can't say enough good things about CCC. Both of my children are absolutely thriving here - the teachers set up the classes to encourage exploration through a variety of media ("languages" in Reggio-speak), and each child can progress at his/her own pace. Although the learning is individualized, emphasis is placed on the community, with groups of children working together to solve problems, create art, etc. My children can't seem to get enough! They're both learning more/faster than we expected, but also becoming more confident, independent, and compassionate. Regarding parental commitments...it's a co-op, so yes, it can be a lot of work. But I believe that we reap what we sow, and so far every second of my time spent as part of the CCC community has been valuable. This school is definitely worth a look!

X “Tip” XJun 24, 2016Our son has been at CCC in pre-school for a year and a half now, and we love it there. A key to realize about this special place is that it's a parent-teacher co-operative, not a daycare. The parents are heavily involved, you can help in the classroom if you'd like, and you're part of a community. There are definitely a decent number of things you are invited to participate in as parents and as a family - very few are mandatory, and you can buy out of all the fundraisers, but you'll have a much better experience if you do as many as you can. In just the first year, my son (and sometimes I) went on trips to a pumpkin patch, a bowling alley, the fire station, the back rooms of a grocery store, the nearby wetlands for a nature walk, and several more. He learned to be part of a group (circle time) and to play solo or in self-run groups (the rest of the day). He made a ton of art, made friends with many different kids, and had lots of free time to learn social interaction, sharing, and problem solving to deal with the strife that every pre-schooler runs into with other kids. We've been amazed how much our son has changed in the year+ he's been there, and how much he's grown socially and artistically. He's also got his numbers, colors, letters, shapes, and is starting to do sight-word reading, but we haven't had to push those things. They've just come up naturally in the course of doing activities that have been fun for him. As with everything else, I'm sure CCC isn't for everyone, but if you're looking for a art- and social-focused school that allows and encourages a lot of parent interaction, this is a great one. ps. Just to give my experience re: kids biting/scratching each other: a few times last year my son was the bite/scratcher or bite/scratchee, and each time both parents were notified and a discussion was had with the teacher, the situation was dealt with carefully and kindly by the teacher at the moment, and both kids learned something. and two of the times, the kids who my son was involved in ended up being his closest friends afterwards... kids are funny like that.
Richard SoennekerOct 10, 2013We were not happy at CCC. There was quite a lot of fund-raising going on. Our little girl did not like to be interrupted for frequent circle time. One day we picked her up, distressed, with her face damaged by another girl's nails, we asked management to look into it. They did not. So we left. We found a wonderful Montessori school where children are taught how to focus on a single task, each at their individual level. Both our kids thrived there.
Marc SchluperMar 1, 2013We love Creative Children's Center! The teaching staff are truly amazing. They work to find the passions and interests of all their students, and then manage to incorporate them into a meaningful curriculum. They encourage even their youngest students to work together and support one another in exploration and problem solving. As a parent, I have learned so much by being a part of this community. I was a little nervous about helping in the classroom, but it is actually a lot of fun and a great way to get to know the other kids and parents. I couldn't imagine a better place for my children and my family!
