  • My only regret is not starting with them sooner! Everyone here cares deeply about my kid being happy, but not in a pushover kind of way. During her transition one teacher bought her books that she knew my kid would love. They ask what song she wants to hear when she gets in. They know her personality. They ask questions instead of making judgements or assumptions. They are incredibly movement, play and art based, which is great for my kid.

  • We had a great experience with Beacon (2 years). My child was very well cared for and the teachers were very loving and communicative. The director Gillian is always present, available and responsive. The teachers are supportive and genuinely engaged with the children. They promoted the children’s learning and emotional/social development. The facility isn’t a shiny new one, but the warmth and intention is very much there. We made a difficult decision to switch to another place for PreK due to life changes and we miss Beacon so much. While our new school is a local fav, the quality of teachers, care and attention don’t compare to Beacon. It’s a really special place.

  • Healthy environment and loving atmosphere. I always felt my 5 year old son was happy and save, . Very friendly, accommodating, caring and loving teachers . Gillian, the director is always present and available . I would recommend The Beacon Center to anyone looking for a quality daycare.

  • Both my son (now in 2nd grade) and daughter (pre-K student) attend(ed) Beacon Center for Children. We have had such a positive and enriching experience here. From the moment you drop off your child up until the moment you pick them up you feel assured they are safe, happy, fulfilled and loved. The teachers take a very personal approach to quenching your child’s thirst for knowledge. My son loved geography and the teachers would greet him in the morning with a geography book they had picked up from the local library, specifically for him! Needles to say, they go above and beyond and we have been huge fans of Beacon Center.

  • We appreciate feedback at Beacon Center and always want to be at our best. In response to the Yan Li review, I'd like to address some of the points made. We are very proud of our school and we're more than diligent about its safety and cleanliness. Our center is cleaned regularly and we have a staff who sanitizes our toys on a consistent basis. Our playground is spacious with a secured gate and ample staff to supervise our children while they're outdoors. We have carefully thought out, fair and reasonable policies that parents have the opportunity to discuss and ask questions about prior to enrollment. We warmly welcome our international students and go to great measures to make them feel comfortable in their new environment. We insure the children and staff are able to communicate important information to one another. We ask parents to provide a list of key phrases with translations in their language, helping the children feel more at ease. We celebrate their culture, bringing their music, art, cooking projects, etc. to the classroom. Children who do not speak English at first, typically learn the language very quickly, with encouragement and with hearing repetition in songs, stories, etc. All children are different in the way they learn but most of our international children surprise us with how quickly they pick up their new language! Also, children communicate in many ways naturally through play. We pride ourselves on giving each child the individualized attention and special care needed for their comfort and happiness. We've been in operation for 32 years with an excellent reputation. We're truly sorry this family did not enroll with us and left feeling this way.

Questions parents ask about BEACON CENTER FOR CHILDREN

Is BEACON CENTER FOR CHILDREN a licensed child care provider in Pennsylvania?

Yes. BEACON CENTER FOR CHILDREN holds Pennsylvania certificate 100400337-0001, listed as "LICENSED" by the Office of Child Development and Early Learning in Philadelphia County. The current certificate runs to November 15, 2026. Confirm current standing at compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch before enrolling.

What is BEACON CENTER FOR CHILDREN's Keystone STARS rating?

Pennsylvania rates BEACON CENTER FOR CHILDREN STAR 1, on a scale of one to four where four is highest. That tier took effect on May 21, 2019. Keystone STARS measures programme standards such as staff qualifications and learning environment, not inspection outcomes.

Does Pennsylvania record a negative sanction against BEACON CENTER FOR CHILDREN?

No. The state's provider dataset records no negative sanction against BEACON CENTER FOR CHILDREN at the time the record was published. That is a single field in a snapshot, not a full compliance history, and it is not the same as a clean inspection record. The licensing inspection detail is at compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch.

Does BEACON CENTER FOR CHILDREN accept child care subsidy?

Yes. BEACON CENTER FOR CHILDREN holds a subsidy agreement with the state. An agreement means the provider can bill the subsidy programme, not that a funded place is free today. Eligibility is decided by your Early Learning Resource Center, Early Learning Resource Center for Region 18.

Does this page show inspection results for BEACON CENTER FOR CHILDREN?

No. Pennsylvania completes at least one unannounced inspection a year at every licensed provider, and publishes the results through the provider search at compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch. Those results are not included here, and there is no open dataset of them, so nothing on this page reflects BEACON CENTER FOR CHILDREN's inspection history either way. Look the provider up there and read the licensing inspection record.
