  • The secretary wasn't helpful. All she kept saying is "I don't know". She said I don't know so many times, that I asked her what does she know. After waiting 5 weeks I got a phone call stating that all funds have been exhausted. If it want that I received an unexpected check.and was able to pay my rent. I would be homeless by now.

  • I want to thank the Berks Community Action Program for their help. I was having a major problem with my heating system. Within days I a great business Artic Heating come and fix the problem. The men from Artic were so professional and explained everything. With our strange weather most mornings were 65 in my home. Now everything works perfectly. Without the help of Berks Community Action program and Julie, I would still be without heat. I truly appreciate a program that does care about Senior Citizens. Thank you so much. Sari Gabrielli

  • I have been chasing them for 4 months trying to desperately get help I gave them all the paperwork they needed when they needed it called them way to many times to count.. once I had count and was getting close to eviction I gave them that paperwork also and they said someone would contact me but they have no clue when that would happened so I kept trying to follow up and got no where so now I will be homeless with my two children next week! I don’t understand why these programs exist if they are going to help people and if they were going to help me why not tell me the first time I called

  • A short story to read. Me and a Hispanic guy staying at hope both found a job around the same time. Making the same money applied for help at bcap(him a week after I did). He got first month rent and security within two weeks of applying to help him out while all I got was ignored. Still to this day all I get is ignored. Guess you need to change your last name to get any help from bcap or anybody in Reading Edit- well been over a month since the review and I still haven't heard a peep from them. It's funny I applied back in April.

Questions parents ask about Berks Community Action Program

Is Berks Community Action Program a licensed child care provider in Pennsylvania?

Yes. Berks Community Action Program holds Pennsylvania certificate 100758146-0018, listed as "LISTED" by the Office of Child Development and Early Learning in Berks County. Confirm current standing at compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch before enrolling.

What is Berks Community Action Program's Keystone STARS rating?

Pennsylvania publishes no Keystone STARS tier for Berks Community Action Program. Keystone STARS is voluntary, so a provider with no tier has not taken part rather than been judged. Licensing and STARS are separate: a provider without a tier is still certified and still inspected.

Does Pennsylvania record a negative sanction against Berks Community Action Program?

Pennsylvania does not report on this for Berks Community Action Program. The sanction field is marked "N/A" in the state's dataset, which is not the same as a recorded "No". Look the provider up at compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch for its licensing record.

Does this page show inspection results for Berks Community Action Program?

No. Pennsylvania completes at least one unannounced inspection a year at every licensed provider, and publishes the results through the provider search at compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch. Those results are not included here, and there is no open dataset of them, so nothing on this page reflects Berks Community Action Program's inspection history either way. Look the provider up there and read the licensing inspection record.
