  • My kids have learned so much attending brightside. they have a certified teacher who cares about the development of young kids, and communicates with parents. Best decision!!

  • If your child is autistic and has behavior issues stay away from this school kfor headatart/pre k you will have to do meetings with into the vice president shawna who will call cyf on you....my son had services in place before starting that place never was sent home till putting him in this school being suspended due to his behaviors they called cyf saying I had inadequate health care and he was in governable and when they came out I handed the case worker over 2k pages of documents and evaluations and all the doctors he had seen and therapists they closed my case.....they don't help you they make ur kids worse and try to get the parents in trouble for a child with behavior problems then I left my youngest one in there and he started developing behavior problems then started the meetings and behold cyf was called again....if ur child has any behavior problems I would chose another place to take ur child I should've removed my 2nd child after there first bogus cyf call....my children are well cared for and I also have my certificate to mandate child abuse I did the training too

  • I have nothing but good things to say about this daycare. I’m constantly informed and on the same page with the staff. They are supportive in so many ways. I switched daycares over 6 months ago and from day one my little girl walks right in with a smile. I think that says a lot about a daycare. Hands down best decision I made in choosing a daycare.

  • Switched to this school from KinderCare in greensburgh and seen a complete 180 turn in my son . The teachers genuinely care about the kids And they do learn a lot .

  • My kids attended Brightside Academy for years even though I was unhappy with them, they are the only daycare in the city of Jeannette. I have witnessed staff verbally abuse kids on a daily basis, there is no activites for them to do there is no field trips. In the summer time the school age kids are cramed in a room together with absolutely nothing to do all day and when the children start to fight due to being bored they are suspended or disciplined. I also had a teacher Miss Jenn pinched my son so hard in the neck she made him bleed, she was caught lying about it and was only suspended while they investigated however with a room of 3 year olds how much can you investigate and of course it was deemed my son was lying however every time I seen the teacher she smartly smiled at me and said smart remarks. This teacher was not fired and my son had to be switched rooms Please do not send your children to this place it will be worth the extra time and money to send your kids out of the city there is so many incidents that I don't have the time to post not just with my kids but 90% of them that attended.

Questions parents ask about BRIGHTSIDE ACADEMY

Is BRIGHTSIDE ACADEMY a licensed child care provider in Pennsylvania?

Yes. BRIGHTSIDE ACADEMY holds Pennsylvania certificate 103603600-0009, listed as "LICENSED" by the Office of Child Development and Early Learning in Westmoreland County. The current certificate runs to October 21, 2026. Confirm current standing at compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch before enrolling.

What is BRIGHTSIDE ACADEMY's Keystone STARS rating?

Pennsylvania rates BRIGHTSIDE ACADEMY STAR 4 - ACC, on a scale of one to four where four is highest. That tier took effect on November 2, 2025. Keystone STARS measures programme standards such as staff qualifications and learning environment, not inspection outcomes.

Does Pennsylvania record a negative sanction against BRIGHTSIDE ACADEMY?

No. The state's provider dataset records no negative sanction against BRIGHTSIDE ACADEMY at the time the record was published. That is a single field in a snapshot, not a full compliance history, and it is not the same as a clean inspection record. The licensing inspection detail is at compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch.

Does BRIGHTSIDE ACADEMY accept child care subsidy?

Yes. BRIGHTSIDE ACADEMY holds a subsidy agreement with the state. The agreement covers these age groups: Infant and toddler, Preschool, School-age. An agreement means the provider can bill the subsidy programme, not that a funded place is free today. Eligibility is decided by your Early Learning Resource Center, Early Learning Resource Center for Region 4.

Does this page show inspection results for BRIGHTSIDE ACADEMY?

No. Pennsylvania completes at least one unannounced inspection a year at every licensed provider, and publishes the results through the provider search at compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch. Those results are not included here, and there is no open dataset of them, so nothing on this page reflects BRIGHTSIDE ACADEMY's inspection history either way. Look the provider up there and read the licensing inspection record.
