I do not know what is going on in that school but not only would I never send a child here, I would never recommend it. To start, administrators didn't even care to give us a tour of the place before our child was starting. Communication between Admin was practically non-existent, and IF someone got back to you, it almost always leaves you with more unanswered questions. My kid was so anxious going into the kindergarten class room, One day while crying while I was leaving, I hear my son loudly say "don't do that to me" in a tone that he uses when he feels scared. The times that the teacher wasn't on her phone during drop off, she would be reprimanding other children. To that teacher if you ever see this - I understand that you rewarding them with tokens was intended to be an incentive for them to "do good things or be kind" but when you are also calling them bad or telling them they are being bad for having feelings, or coughing and forgetting to cover their mouth, you make them question their own character. Especially when I walk in the class and you are acknowledging to me that "the kids are now sucking up to you for kindness coins" .... That is just odd to me. This school came highly recommended by a few trusted friends who had sent their kids there, but 4-5 weeks of borderline anxiety was enough for me to know my kid was not welcome here. Also, please tighten access, parents are walking in and out and holding doors open for other people because "I've seen you here before" .. while it's polite, it's breaking so many security protocols.
Maggie ASep 26, 2025If I am not an employee or volunteer, why do I give a 5-star rating to Graceway Children's Academy? September of 2023 will be 40 years since it's inception. It started with about 12 children. It has grown, with a WELL-OILED operation, due to EXCEPTIONAL leadership, to the OUTSTANDING childcare operation it is today. There have been HUNDREDS of compliments from parents of how the leadership and staff GENUINELY CARE about their work with the children. One of the highlights of interest, and rare for childcare centers, is the variety of projects planned in the art room. The teachers of the groups 2 years through kindergarten, are constantly impressed (as well as the leadership) with the heartfelt, time-consuming preparation of the art teacher, with the projects. All this has made church-owned Graceway Children's Academy an award-winning facility ... MORE THAN ONCE! Anyone involved should agree, it is easily a GLOWING 5-star facility!
David TuckeyMar 24, 2023The staff is good and their activities for kids are good too. Only thing bothering me was their class rooms are really small and they have like 15 kids playing around in same class room. They have 3 teachers and almost 15 kids running around in the same small class. Due to this my son is getting sick very often.
S MJan 8, 2020I watched this morning these kids getting on the bus the Lady supposed to be helping them get on the bus was coming out the door talking looking back and most of the children we already on the bus, my concern was the huge curb they had to hurdle and how small some of them were trying to step up on that big bus. She should have been at the bus with them not half way, they also, are walking through a parking lot. Where is the common sense. I called to let them know how appalled I was and was told I dont need to hear this and she hung up on me. This was the person in charge. Unbelievable if any of these kids get hurt it will be her fault for not being on top of her game these are little people what are we teaching them. Im going to send the Videotape off to ABC 27 News.
Lori HockenberrySep 21, 2016I am more than pleased with my experience with The Learning Center so far. My son has only been there for a short time, but it's been a wonderful experience for him, and for us as parents to see him grow with friends and teachers who truly care about him every day!!!
Matt IacavoneFeb 25, 2015Our son has been at TLC since he was 3 months old, we love it there and will be sad to leave once he starts school in the Fall. From the administrative staff to the teachers, they truly have the kiddos best interest in mind.

Questions parents ask about GRACEWAY CHILDREN ACADEMY
Is GRACEWAY CHILDREN ACADEMY a licensed child care provider in Pennsylvania?
- Yes. GRACEWAY CHILDREN ACADEMY holds Pennsylvania certificate 100128019-0002, listed as "LICENSED" by the Office of Child Development and Early Learning in Cumberland County. The current certificate runs to November 21, 2026. Confirm current standing at compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch before enrolling.
What is GRACEWAY CHILDREN ACADEMY's Keystone STARS rating?
- Pennsylvania rates GRACEWAY CHILDREN ACADEMY STAR 1, on a scale of one to four where four is highest. That tier took effect on August 1, 2019. Keystone STARS measures programme standards such as staff qualifications and learning environment, not inspection outcomes.
Does Pennsylvania record a negative sanction against GRACEWAY CHILDREN ACADEMY?
- No. The state's provider dataset records no negative sanction against GRACEWAY CHILDREN ACADEMY at the time the record was published. That is a single field in a snapshot, not a full compliance history, and it is not the same as a clean inspection record. The licensing inspection detail is at compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch.
Does GRACEWAY CHILDREN ACADEMY accept child care subsidy?
- Yes. GRACEWAY CHILDREN ACADEMY holds a subsidy agreement with the state. The agreement covers these age groups: Infant and toddler. An agreement means the provider can bill the subsidy programme, not that a funded place is free today. Eligibility is decided by your Early Learning Resource Center, Early Learning Resource Center for Region 9.
Does this page show inspection results for GRACEWAY CHILDREN ACADEMY?
- No. Pennsylvania completes at least one unannounced inspection a year at every licensed provider, and publishes the results through the provider search at compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch. Those results are not included here, and there is no open dataset of them, so nothing on this page reflects GRACEWAY CHILDREN ACADEMY's inspection history either way. Look the provider up there and read the licensing inspection record.
