  • The best daycare ever!! We have all 3 of our kids there and we couldn't be happier. The staff is amazing, barely any turnover, which says so much about how much the business is like family. If you are looking for a place where your kids will be safe and well cared for this is the place!

  • I used Great Beginnings MANY years ago. Both of my boys went there and I never had any issues. Jeremy and Kyle are no in their 30s and if I had to so it all over I would be calling Ms Peggy and her staff!!!

  • I didn’t take my child there, but I had to do some business with them, which gave me the opportunity to interact with the staff and teachers. They were all wonderful people and true professionals.

  • We moved to great beginnings when my oldest was 9 months old on a coworkers recommendation. We had previously been at a chain daycare and had a VERY bad experience. I appreciate the small classroom sizes reducing sicknesses and really targeting development. The pre-k kids come out very prepared for school which I appreciate. Just this morning I was shown the sign language alphabet. Lastly my son had a medical emergency at school one day and I they handled it perfectly. The staff there are incredible.

  • Our family loves Great Beginnings. My oldest started around 18 months old and now our youngest started at 3 months. The teachers are very welcoming and it’s clear they truly care for the children. It really feels like a family. The office staff are very friendly and helpful. Would recommend GB to any family looking for child care that provides peace of mind.

  • By far the greatest daycare in pittsburgh, we been here for the past 6 years, all 6 of our children currently go here. From ages 6 months to 11 years old. They have great staff, they are respectful, loving people, and your children receive the attention that every parent hopes for when leaving their child at a day care. Great beginnings is one of the best choices we’ve ever made, hands down!

Questions parents ask about GREAT BEGINNINGS LEARNING CENTER

Is GREAT BEGINNINGS LEARNING CENTER a licensed child care provider in Pennsylvania?

Yes. GREAT BEGINNINGS LEARNING CENTER holds Pennsylvania certificate 100140710-0002, listed as "LICENSED" by the Office of Child Development and Early Learning in Allegheny County. The current certificate runs to January 5, 2027. Confirm current standing at compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch before enrolling.

What is GREAT BEGINNINGS LEARNING CENTER's Keystone STARS rating?

Pennsylvania rates GREAT BEGINNINGS LEARNING CENTER STAR 1, on a scale of one to four where four is highest. That tier took effect on May 28, 2019. Keystone STARS measures programme standards such as staff qualifications and learning environment, not inspection outcomes.

Does Pennsylvania record a negative sanction against GREAT BEGINNINGS LEARNING CENTER?

No. The state's provider dataset records no negative sanction against GREAT BEGINNINGS LEARNING CENTER at the time the record was published. That is a single field in a snapshot, not a full compliance history, and it is not the same as a clean inspection record. The licensing inspection detail is at compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch.

Does GREAT BEGINNINGS LEARNING CENTER accept child care subsidy?

Yes. GREAT BEGINNINGS LEARNING CENTER holds a subsidy agreement with the state. The agreement covers these age groups: Infant and toddler, Preschool, School-age. An agreement means the provider can bill the subsidy programme, not that a funded place is free today. Eligibility is decided by your Early Learning Resource Center, Early Learning Resource Center for Region 5.

Does this page show inspection results for GREAT BEGINNINGS LEARNING CENTER?

No. Pennsylvania completes at least one unannounced inspection a year at every licensed provider, and publishes the results through the provider search at compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch. Those results are not included here, and there is no open dataset of them, so nothing on this page reflects GREAT BEGINNINGS LEARNING CENTER's inspection history either way. Look the provider up there and read the licensing inspection record.
