This daycare needs to do better. All I see and experience since my child has attended this school is everything is always about money with them. They’re money hungry , they promote everything concerning funds , and money to benefit their pockets. The importance should be teaching the children , they put more concern into trying to gain money from the parents than anything , from sneakerball , to fund raisers. One thing that doesn’t make sense to me is that no matter how many days your child attends that school , they make parents pay the full amount of their child tuition , for example , if it costs me $300 a week for my child to attend there and I inform them in advance my child won’t be attending the week that supposed to be paid for , they threaten me with my child may lose his or her spot in the school . So regardless if my child attends one day of the week , they still want my money. That is not fair at all , nobody gets paid BEFORE completing work. The people that run that place be so fast to text and call parents about copayments , but be hesitant to explain in detail what is accepted or not accepted at the school . They would wait until it’s too late to mention the issue , but can text and call parents 11pm at night , asking or reminding them about copayments. I need to find my child a new daycare because this is getting out of hand and very irritating. ONLY reason my child attends the school still is because it’s convenient due to my career and also cause I haven’t found another trustworthy daycare as of yet. My child learns everything at home and is well advanced so I’m not sure why Im paying them $300 just to babysit.
Kashawn GillespieSep 13, 2025I am extremely disappointed with our experience at this daycare. As a parent, I expect my children to be cared for in a safe, supportive environment—not one where they feel afraid. One of the teachers has repeatedly scared my children when they misbehaved, rather than using age-appropriate guidance or positive discipline strategies. She would tell them that there is a scary man in the basement. My kids would come home anxious and upset, and they began dreading going to daycare each morning. No child should feel fear at a place that’s supposed to help them grow and feel secure. Parents deserve transparency and children deserve kindness. I would not recommend this daycare to anyone until major changes are made in how discipline is handled.
Stephen GambleJun 9, 2025Greater Beginnings has 2 locations 1306 W Girard Ave & 2744 Germantown Avenue. GBLC is far from your average daycare. It truly is a learning Center. The activities and trips they plan for the students are amazing. All students down to the infants are learning and having fun while doing it. They always do nice things for parents and caregivers. They even don't forget our the fathers and males in the student lives. They take good care of the children in their care. The owner is the bomb! It's a Daughter and Mother duo who are providing kids with experiences they will never forget. They always treat the students to all kinds of good food and other cultures. So if you are looking for a great place for your children I highly recommend GBLC

Does Pennsylvania record a negative sanction against GREATER BEGINNINGS LEARNING CENTER?
- No. The state's provider dataset records no negative sanction against GREATER BEGINNINGS LEARNING CENTER at the time the record was published. Does GREATER BEGINNINGS LEARNING CENTER accept child care subsidy?
- Yes. GREATER BEGINNINGS LEARNING CENTER holds a subsidy agreement with the state. The agreement covers these age groups: Infant and toddler, Preschool, School-age. An agreement means the provider can bill the subsidy programme, not that a funded place is free today. Eligibility is decided by your Early Learning Resource Center, Early Learning Resource Center for Region 18.
Does this page show inspection results for GREATER BEGINNINGS LEARNING CENTER?
- No. Pennsylvania completes at least one unannounced inspection a year at every licensed provider, and publishes the results through the provider search at compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch. Those results are not included here, and there is no open dataset of them, so nothing on this page reflects GREATER BEGINNINGS LEARNING CENTER's inspection history either way. Look the provider up there and read the licensing inspection record.
