  • I am a mother new to this country, full of hope. I did everything for this opportunity: prepared my file, showed up, completed a trial day… and waited. I was led to hope for weeks, then months… always expecting their call. Only to eventually discover that my file was never even kept. I even delayed important steps for my 2-year-old daughter, hoping to enrol her in this daycare and build something stable for both of us. I may not speak English perfectly, but I had so much to offer: I am a musician, a singer, an artist… and working with children has always been my passion in my home country. I didn’t lose anything… you lost someone motivated, sincere, and truly dedicated. This is not just a professional disappointment… it is deeply hurtful on a human level. Behind every effort, there is a person, a mother, a dream. I truly hope this does not happen to anyone else. This experience made me realize how important professionalism, transparency, and respect truly are — especially when people place their trust and hopes in you.

  • I'll provide more insights and context when I have a bit more time, but the TL;DR is that OCDS was a fantastic place for my daughter, especially since she needed to attend a pre-school that was close to the Elwyn South location of SEEDS.

  • I cant speak for the whole school, the one year old class that goes from 12-18 months was a bad experience. The main teacher doesn't seem to like her job, she doesn't speak to the parents, I've never seen her interact with the kids. My daughter was there for about two months and was constantly sick. She went home with another child's pacifer. The menu states they give milk everyday, however I was informed by one of the teachers that I should bring my own. When I asked the director she stated some days its too hot( which doesn't make sense in an air conditioned building). It's a system they used called hey mama that gives you info about how your child did that day. This was used the first week never received any notifications after that. I would not recommend sending children in this age bracket.

Questions parents ask about OLDE CITY DAY SCHOOL

Is OLDE CITY DAY SCHOOL a licensed child care provider in Pennsylvania?

Yes. OLDE CITY DAY SCHOOL holds Pennsylvania certificate 102492463-0004, listed as "LICENSED" by the Office of Child Development and Early Learning in Philadelphia County. The current certificate runs to October 6, 2026. Confirm current standing at compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch before enrolling.

What is OLDE CITY DAY SCHOOL's Keystone STARS rating?

Pennsylvania rates OLDE CITY DAY SCHOOL STAR 1, on a scale of one to four where four is highest. That tier took effect on May 17, 2026. Keystone STARS measures programme standards such as staff qualifications and learning environment, not inspection outcomes.

Does Pennsylvania record a negative sanction against OLDE CITY DAY SCHOOL?

No. The state's provider dataset records no negative sanction against OLDE CITY DAY SCHOOL at the time the record was published. That is a single field in a snapshot, not a full compliance history, and it is not the same as a clean inspection record. The licensing inspection detail is at compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch.

Does OLDE CITY DAY SCHOOL accept child care subsidy?

Yes. OLDE CITY DAY SCHOOL holds a subsidy agreement with the state. The agreement covers these age groups: Infant and toddler, Preschool, School-age. An agreement means the provider can bill the subsidy programme, not that a funded place is free today. Eligibility is decided by your Early Learning Resource Center, Early Learning Resource Center for Region 18.

Does this page show inspection results for OLDE CITY DAY SCHOOL?

No. Pennsylvania completes at least one unannounced inspection a year at every licensed provider, and publishes the results through the provider search at compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch. Those results are not included here, and there is no open dataset of them, so nothing on this page reflects OLDE CITY DAY SCHOOL's inspection history either way. Look the provider up there and read the licensing inspection record.
