  • I’m mostly there for the gym and it always seems like their equipment is out of order, they hadn’t fixed the hip thrust machine in weeks, and the 24/7 access scanner seems to not work for several people- myself included. I don’t ever see anyone come around and wipe down equipment and the mats and mirrors are filthy. Please start taking better care of clients and ensuring accessibility to equipment and the facility

  • A great place to workout and see your friends. Staff is amazing helpful and friendly.

  • Don’t they have anyone cleaning the place since the cleaning person retired this fall? That place is filthy will mud all over the floor, same paper litter on the floor for the last few weeks, dust bunnies everywhere and etc. Trash cans are full and disinfectant stations are empty. Entrance way is littered with old leaves and salt crystals. With what we pay a month you think they could at least hire a cleaning person….Bring back the gym attendant, at least they did a little light cleaning. Very pitiful…..Come on Y you can do better…. Send the CEO over to see the mess

  • Field house is only for organized sports, no members allowed even if its completely empty, and the gym with basketball nets is almost always rented out for organized sports at the same time leaving nothing for young members to do. But the Y will say you can have your children be members and pay for organized sports to use the facilities! If wanting a place for you and your kids to go and be able to play sports as members, this isn’t the place for that.

  • This is a great gym. Always super nice and clean. They have a large outdoor area for soccer and other fun events that it always seems like they’re doing. I love coming here. Not always super busy and intimidating like some other local gyms

  • Facilities are great, but I ended my membership because of how crowded it gets in the evenings. No parking spaces, therefore absolutely no time on the machines. It also gets packed with teens that use the place as hang out area rather than a gym.

Questions parents ask about SOUTH HANOVER AREA YMCA

Is SOUTH HANOVER AREA YMCA a licensed child care provider in Pennsylvania?

Yes. SOUTH HANOVER AREA YMCA holds Pennsylvania certificate 100137457-0023, listed as "LICENSED" by the Office of Child Development and Early Learning in York County. The current certificate runs to July 12, 2027. Confirm current standing at compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch before enrolling.

What is SOUTH HANOVER AREA YMCA's Keystone STARS rating?

Pennsylvania rates SOUTH HANOVER AREA YMCA STAR 2, on a scale of one to four where four is highest. That tier took effect on December 16, 2025. Keystone STARS measures programme standards such as staff qualifications and learning environment, not inspection outcomes.

Does Pennsylvania record a negative sanction against SOUTH HANOVER AREA YMCA?

No. The state's provider dataset records no negative sanction against SOUTH HANOVER AREA YMCA at the time the record was published. That is a single field in a snapshot, not a full compliance history, and it is not the same as a clean inspection record. The licensing inspection detail is at compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch.

Does SOUTH HANOVER AREA YMCA accept child care subsidy?

Yes. SOUTH HANOVER AREA YMCA holds a subsidy agreement with the state. An agreement means the provider can bill the subsidy programme, not that a funded place is free today. Eligibility is decided by your Early Learning Resource Center, Early Learning Resource Center for Region 10.

Does this page show inspection results for SOUTH HANOVER AREA YMCA?

No. Pennsylvania completes at least one unannounced inspection a year at every licensed provider, and publishes the results through the provider search at compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch. Those results are not included here, and there is no open dataset of them, so nothing on this page reflects SOUTH HANOVER AREA YMCA's inspection history either way. Look the provider up there and read the licensing inspection record.
