Why is it so hard to find Great Child Care?! The Director Ms. Maria is extremely rude. First of all, there’s no cameras. But due to moms and I circumstances we were running out of options. But that was the least of it. For the whole first week teachers wouldn’t even acknowledge me and my child in the mornings when dropping off and in the afternoon for pick up. Attending to kids one thing, but sitting there chatting with another staff member completely ignoring the child and their parent is another. I feel like no parent should feel neglected when dropping off their child for the day. Especially a new parent and student. Than, there was the time where my daughter was complaining and crying so much that I’m trying to comfort her for about 10 minutes. With again, staff not helping me to get her settled in. So me being the father I am I go and bring back snacks for her and her classmates. Soon as I got back into my vehicle, didn’t even turn the car on, the director Ms. Maria messages me telling me I have to do better at drop offs. That I’m not wanting to let her go when I’m reality, I myself am trying to get to work. That was another problem she had obviously. Next, was having my daughter come home telling me her classmate is being mean to her and is always hitting her. I addressed one teacher one day than the next teacher the next day. Than finally told her main teacher, since the same little girl one morning, was looking over at my daughter with a mean look while my daughter’s telling me this girl is mean to her. But again by the time I’m getting in my car the director Ms. Maria is texting me. Not calling me, texting me. All because now she wants our concern documented. But to tell me not to address any matters in the classroom, because it made the “ other child “ uncomfortable, since she “knew” I was talking about her. Extremely aggressive and with no intentions to listen to my side of the story, but to go off of what “her staff” told her and address me via text as if I was being mean to a toddler. But I finally had enough with this one. Again my daughter is only 3 but is smart. So as usual I ask her how was her day. Her exact words to me were, “ Daddy Ms kimmie put me in TimeOut. Than she did like this.” She opened her arms out wide than put her forehead on the floor! I’m like what? Now why would a 3 year old make up such a scenario? So as usual, I reach out to the director Ms. Maria and she immediately got offended, and without asking staff, which I know because her response came back within a minute, saying that they don’t do that. So wait, calling my 3 year old a liar? Than went on to tell me yet again how we “chose” their daycare to take care of my child. To than call me toxic and give mom and I an ultimatum to either only have mom communicate, also pick up and drop off my daughter ( since I’m the one bringing these matters to her attention making her feel “uncomfortable” and “toxic” ) Or to remove my daughter from her daycare immediately. Extremely unprofessional. Extremely rude. Extremely one sided. And it’s beyond me how people/ who are also parents can act in such a way with parents who leave their children with them for most of the day. I pray to see a better day where parents don’t have to stress while at work not knowing what’s going on with their children. Or that there can be some type of respect when parents have questions and concerns, instead of being brushed off and insulted. I’d added some screenshots so you guys can see for yourselves how this director Ms. Maria talks to her students parents. Mind you my daughter just turned 3! So of course I will have to play my part and follow up after something like that being brought to my attention. Im just a concerned parent trying to warn the next parent before they have to learn the hard way like we did. Stay Blessed & Stay Genuine! Life is Precious!!
Wizzy MackkOct 3, 2024After looking at many many daycares in the area(and even out of the area) we were starting to notice how hard it is to find a clean, safe and warm environment for our son. One day my husband drove past Saint Alphonsa's. We called and scheduled a tour. First thing we noticed was how clean it was. We had to take off our shoes and the kids have "indoor shoes". We loved that idea. With newborns and toddlers and all the time they spend on the floor and putting things in their mouths...This was a huge relief. And the center was so clean...anyone who has even 1 child knows how hard it is to keep a room in order for an hour...let alone the day. The center is never upside down. And then there is the staff. Leaving your child all day with strangers had me so worried...but we quickly started feeling like the teachers and the center manager were part of our son's family. They are so caring and they love children and what they are doing. We could see our son's excitement to see his teachers day after day and that made us so happy and comfortable. And they are always available to discuss any concerns or questions you have. Or just to let you know how your child is doing. Another great thing is the curriculum. They are not just babysitting the children or throwing in a lesson here and there. They really take the time to teach the kids. Our son learned so much so quickly that we were surprised many days at some of the things he knew :-) Overall we could not be any happier with the decision we made in picking Saint Alphonsa's Academy. I would highly recommend this daycare to anyone looking for a wonderful environment for your child to grow up in. Leaving your child can never be easy, but knowing that they are in a safe place, in good hands and are being treated like family makes it so much less difficult. I absolutely love the Saint Alphonsa's Family!
Maeshen WilliamsonApr 11, 2016My husband and I placed our 2 year son here about a year ago. We placed him here after having a horrific daycare experience at another daycare in the area. After 1 month my son blossomed so much every single teacher there loves children, they have an excellent curriculum and the children have lots of fun on top of learning. My son started off with Ms. Marcella and Ms. Kathy as his teachers. They cared for our son so well it made me want to cry, after having such a bad experience. He is now in class with Ms. Brittany and Ms. Erin at 3 years old he gets class work, he writes, counts pass 30, has sight words the list goes on. I can't praise this school enough. It is super clean, you can pack your child their own food and snacks. The arts and crafts they do with all the children go above and beyond. Over all 100% satisfied. #ILoveThisSchool!
CarlaNov 2, 2015Very hesitant to put my son in daycare like any mom especially a new mom. My son is nine months and started attending St.Alphonsas almost a month ago. I can honestly say I am so grateful I found them. Miss Annette, the manager, has been very helpful and understanding through the transition. The staff is great and my son is excited to go there. Everyday I pick him up he has a smile on his face. They have catered to my picky ways about my sons diet. It's hard to trust people nowadays to care for your child but I don't have any worries. I would highly recommend them. A+ in my books. Thank you to all the staff! Peace of mind is priceless.
Tee MSep 9, 2014My 8 month old son has been going to Saint Alphonsa's now for close to 5 months, and I couldn't ask for a better experience! The school is always clean and engaging, and every teacher is so friendly and caring. It makes me feel a million times better to see my son smiling and laughing with his teachers whenever he sees them. If you are looking for a school where your child will be loved and well taken care of, I would definitely recommend Saint Alphonsa's Academy!

Questions parents ask about ST ALPHONSAS
Is ST ALPHONSAS a licensed child care provider in Pennsylvania?
- Yes. ST ALPHONSAS holds Pennsylvania certificate 103791340-0001, listed as "LICENSED" by the Office of Child Development and Early Learning in Philadelphia County. The current certificate runs to July 16, 2027. Confirm current standing at compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch before enrolling.
What is ST ALPHONSAS's Keystone STARS rating?
- Pennsylvania rates ST ALPHONSAS STAR 3, on a scale of one to four where four is highest. That tier took effect on August 25, 2025. Keystone STARS measures programme standards such as staff qualifications and learning environment, not inspection outcomes.
Does Pennsylvania record a negative sanction against ST ALPHONSAS?
- No. The state's provider dataset records no negative sanction against ST ALPHONSAS at the time the record was published. That is a single field in a snapshot, not a full compliance history, and it is not the same as a clean inspection record. The licensing inspection detail is at compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch.
Does ST ALPHONSAS accept child care subsidy?
- Yes. ST ALPHONSAS holds a subsidy agreement with the state. The agreement covers these age groups: Infant and toddler, Preschool, School-age. An agreement means the provider can bill the subsidy programme, not that a funded place is free today. Eligibility is decided by your Early Learning Resource Center, Early Learning Resource Center for Region 18.
Does this page show inspection results for ST ALPHONSAS?
- No. Pennsylvania completes at least one unannounced inspection a year at every licensed provider, and publishes the results through the provider search at compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch. Those results are not included here, and there is no open dataset of them, so nothing on this page reflects ST ALPHONSAS's inspection history either way. Look the provider up there and read the licensing inspection record.
