The staff there are catty drama women and very unprofessional. You can tell most of them are there just for a check, because I barely ever seen them playing with the kids or even with a smile on their face from time to time. I was SO happy to see they opened up another day care at Opportunity House. I hope the women at the new center are more educated and kind people. If you have a chance to enroll your kid into the other day care, I would take my chances and send them to that one instead of this one for sure.
Jasmine KSep 28, 2025If I can rate this place zero stars I most definitely would!!! This daycare is so horrible that my two sons are always in the hospital due to this daycare being nasty and never cleaning and they got bedbugs and roaches too!!! What type of daycare doesn’t listen to the parents concerns. But have fun with your inspection cuz I will be file a law suit on this daycare for my sons medical bills
Lexi JohnsonJan 4, 20252nd Street Learning Center is a fabulous learning center. Toured today with my wife, for infant care during the week. Tatiana, Director, is extremely professional as well as Scarlett of the Infant side. Choosing where to take your child for care is hard, but 2nd street learning makes the decision easy.
Patrick AllenMar 26, 2024My kids have been going there for approximately 7yrs now the beginning was rough I admit but they have made soo many amazing changes along the way and is nowhere near what it was in the past. Staff is respectful to children and parents..they go above and beyond for my children and my children adore them...I'm soo glad I stayed with them...my kids even get mad if I show up early because of the fun activities they do with the kids. They even have a social worker on site to help direct parents when they need help.
jjae's “Jjae” worldFeb 15, 2022This daycare is absolutely horrible. My son has autism and they literally kick him out. They staff love to yell at the children and is very disrespectful towards the parents. I would never recommend them to anyone
Toni MartinezMar 6, 2020The location is good and always doing upgrades, the staff is so respectful, patient and so sweet and helpful. Very attentive to all the kids, always doing some activities or some music playtime and carpet area to read or watch a movie🥰 There like family and my kids love there center and always excited and happy when I pick them up, so give me a pierce of mind knowing there in well good hands💪🏼💯🥰

Questions parents ask about The Second Street Learning Center
Is The Second Street Learning Center a licensed child care provider in Pennsylvania?
- Yes. The Second Street Learning Center holds Pennsylvania certificate 100130115-0001, listed as "LICENSED" by the Office of Child Development and Early Learning in Berks County. The current certificate runs to January 23, 2027. Confirm current standing at compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch before enrolling.
What is The Second Street Learning Center's Keystone STARS rating?
- Pennsylvania rates The Second Street Learning Center STAR 4, on a scale of one to four where four is highest. That tier took effect on August 5, 2025. Keystone STARS measures programme standards such as staff qualifications and learning environment, not inspection outcomes.
Does Pennsylvania record a negative sanction against The Second Street Learning Center?
- No. The state's provider dataset records no negative sanction against The Second Street Learning Center at the time the record was published. That is a single field in a snapshot, not a full compliance history, and it is not the same as a clean inspection record. The licensing inspection detail is at compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch.
Does The Second Street Learning Center accept child care subsidy?
- Yes. The Second Street Learning Center holds a subsidy agreement with the state. The agreement covers these age groups: Infant and toddler, Preschool, School-age. An agreement means the provider can bill the subsidy programme, not that a funded place is free today. Eligibility is decided by your Early Learning Resource Center, Early Learning Resource Center for Region 13.
Does this page show inspection results for The Second Street Learning Center?
- No. Pennsylvania completes at least one unannounced inspection a year at every licensed provider, and publishes the results through the provider search at compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch. Those results are not included here, and there is no open dataset of them, so nothing on this page reflects The Second Street Learning Center's inspection history either way. Look the provider up there and read the licensing inspection record.
