  • I would give YCMA zero stars if I could. I attended my little cousin’s birthday party at this establishment, and I was very disturbed by how the staff treated our family. The experience made us feel completely unwelcome. One staff member, in particular, was extremely rude and unprofessional. As my cousin was trying to gather her things and leave as quickly as possible, she repeatedly ignored the staff member in an effort to avoid conflict. Instead of allowing the situation to end peacefully, he continued making unnecessary remarks and even took it upon himself to start throwing away items before we were finished. Based on what I witnessed, it was difficult not to feel that we were being treated differently because of the color of our skin. I have seen people of other races treated much differently. I would never step foot back in this establishment, nor would I recommend anyone black to. Every customer deserves to be treated with respect, regardless of who they are. Unfortunately, that was not our experience.

  • I’d give this establishment a zero if I could. First and foremost I’d like to express my concerns about this establishment. I have been here numerous of times with my daughter for her classmates birthday parties. I booked the indoor pool for her birthday party 6-8pm. I was told that we would have 30 minutes to set up and 30 minutes to take down. Throughout the entire party I felt nagged, bothered and a very hostile environment. For one, the host came to me and said we couldn’t walk around in certain places and that one of my family members were allegedly “running” mind you he’s disabled. He asked did they have ice for the party or if we needed to provide it for my guest. The host had a very nasty attitude towards him when he asked her response was “I’m mopping”. My guest got out of the pool at 7:35pm I made sure all of them were fed. Some hairy man then came up to me and informed me it was time for us to leave. At that moment a few seconds later I asked my family and friends to help me get the items in the trash; gifts and food in the car. While they were doing that we went ahead and sung happy birthday to my daughter. After the fact I’m cutting her cake to give to the guest the hairy man once again walks up to me and says “ I don’t think it’s wise for you to cut the cake” at this point I’m very irritated I paid $325 for the building. I’m then telling him get out of my face. Do you not see that we are moving as fast as we can? Mind you it’s not even 8:10 yet! He’s literally just STANDING behind me nagging me. It was very awkward and I’m telling him to get away from me! He also started to throw away my guest items. This whole experience was just terrible and not what the contract agreed to. I have been here on several occasions for “white kids” birthday and I have never seen them treat them in such a manner. I felt discriminated, unwelcome and belittled. I will never book with you guys again! Also, while me and my family were leaving the hairy man then goes to say “Thank you for your cooperation”. To be honest the building is very old and needs some renovation. I will share this on every platform!

  • My children love this place ever since we became members. My daughter is special needs and they are very kind to her.

  • Good place to get a membership if you have kids. They have things for the whole family

  • When my husband and I did the family plan we were told we got lockers and to supply our lock. Well they went in and cut the locks off our lockers and took our stuff out. They never mentioned that lockers were not included or that you had to pay per person when we signed up we asked multiple questions and even repeated questions. And was assured we had access to lockers and everything.

  • I enrolled as a member for a week. I had no trouble or received any complaints. Today, I suddenly received a phone call from the YMCA manager stating that I was unwelcome because I asked about a teenager's age and if they attended school. It was an immediate judgment without due process, and the manager talked over me as if I was a kid whom he could intimidate with threats. I strongly recommend that anyone especially males who attend this facility censor themselves because they will not be judged fairly. In fact, they might even be threatened with a police report. So, find another gym where you will not walk on eggshells. I posted this report so that others know about the hostile and rigid attitude expressed toward outsiders. I will refer people to other gyms nearby where they will not have to be scared of offending people. The manager waited until today to even notify me of any complaints, which speaks poorly for him. Apparently, even looking at a person the wrong way is somehow incriminating, and no due process is granted when a person is accused in this Florence outfit. Very rigid, judgmental, and unChristian behavior. Don't be fooled by the Bible verses on the walls. Grace does not exist here. In fact, I noticed a sense of attitude from the community there when they began to ask questions about theology. As soon as I mentioned my Catholicism, the discomfort level became obvious. A barber at their local shop told me that intellectuals were unwelcome in Florence, and that the Pentecostals and Southern Baptists tend to exercise harsh criticism toward Catholics. It is a known fact that the Bible Belt was founded by Protestants with an anti-Catholic attitude. It has been here since the Puritans appeared in the colonies. Note: Take notice that the YMCA administrator avoided any replies to this post. If anything was false in my report, then they could make an appeal. But, no response is a response, folks. In other words, their avoidance proves their guilt. You do not mistreat someone in such a disrespectful, degrading way without consequences.
