I’ve really had a great experience until last week. My children have been members for about a year now. They have NEVER been late for pickup. My husbands brakes went out on his vehicle, and I was working an hour away. My husband was late picking them up and whoever Shelly is was very rude over the phone. My husband told her the situation, I called because I was concerned. She was more worried about going home than the incident my husband had. When I spoke with her over the phone she was rude and said, “ well I’m paying employees extra to stay because of this” for one? Don’t they get a grant? For two, emergencies happen and not once have we ever been late picking them up. My husband eventually hitched a ride to get them and then they walked over an hour home. Shelly also said that I had an emergency contact. Well OKAY Shelly if I had an emergency contact why didn’t you contact them? Not to mention CPS bringing brought up because of one freaking incident that we couldn’t help. It would be a lot different if this was an ongoing thing but my husband had an emergency and she was more worried about going home than the safety of my children. I’ve honestly been pissed off about this whole situation and still am because we’re good parents and sometimes things happen to people and considering how rude she was over it I would truly suggest for them to put someone else in her position then her. My husband and I are considering looking into other options after this but other than that we’ve had a decent experience. Mr. Elijah is a very good employee and has always been super sweet to me. Last thing I have nothing to say to Shelly after the way she acted last time. Definitely immature and disrespectful.
Brittany WoodApr 16, 2026I love the Boys & Girls Club and how they support children and families! They provide these kids with a loving environment and encourage kids to be the best they can. The staff is awesome, kind, compassionate and you can see it when the kids walk in that they love coming here.
