As my wife and I picked up our 3 year old daughter today, the owner displayed what we felt was a very unprofessional attitude. In front of both of us, she repeatedly berated and accused our daughter of lying about having to use the restroom. Our daughter is recently potty trained and is still adjusting to using the restroom away from home. Rather than handling the situation with patience and understanding, the owner repeatedly scolded her and then refused to let her have the customary piece of candy when leaving, which caused our daughter to become very upset and cry. What was most concerning was that the owner showed no empathy for how her actions affected a young child. As parents, this experience completely changed our level of trust in the facility. If the owner is willing to speak to and discipline our daughter this way in front of us, it naturally raises concerns about how children may be treated when parents are not present. Because of this experience, we have decided to withdraw our daughter from the facility. We expect a daycare to provide a safe, supportive, and compassionate environment—especially for toddlers who are still learning and developing. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. EDIT: This issue was made public for two reasons: first, because we attempted to address it privately by email and, to date, have received no response; and second, to inform other parents of our personal experience. Our account is accurate. Both of us were present and witnessed the entire interaction. When we arrived, you appeared visibly agitated. As I was trying to comfort our three-year-old daughter, you repeatedly called her a liar. Your response and demeanor were inappropriate for someone caring for young children. The way you handled the situation reflects poorly on your business and has no place in a childcare environment.
