  • It's difficult as a parent to find loving caregivers who you can trust to enrich your child's life while you are away. I'm so grateful that our family found SCC when we did! My older son has spent three years here, and I look forward to sending my younger son in the Fall. Sewanee Children's Center is a dreamy fairyland that is lovingly and intentionally designed to nurture the growth and development of young children. The way the teachers and director nurture these children mentally, physically, and emotionally is inspiring -- I am a better parent as a result of seeing my child through their eyes. They are passionate about child development and tailor their curriculum to the interests and specific needs of each child. Simply put, it's awesome.

  • Sewanee Children's Center is an absolute gem! Three of our kids had the pleasure of attending this school. They truly see and appreciate each child as the unique individual they are. The teachers and staff create an environment that nurtures kindness, empathy and respect among the students. From the moment you walk through the doors, you can feel the warmth and care that permeates every classroom. The curriculum focuses on developing the whole child - their creativity, curiosity, and social-emotional skills. What sets this place apart is how much the teachers invest in really knowing each student's personalities, interests and learning styles. They tailor their approach to bring out the best in every child. My kids have blossomed under their guidance into confident, compassionate little people who love going to school every day. The center cultivates an authentic sense of community, where children learn to form beautiful friendships. I've witnessed so many touching moments of the kids looking out for one another and including everyone in their play and activities. I cannot say enough good things about Sewanee Children's Center. They are equipping our children with invaluable life lessons in kindness, while giving them an outstanding educational foundation. Any family would be lucky to be a part of this nurturing, one-of-a-kind environment. Highest possible recommendation!

  • Can I choose 10 stars? We have been sending our children to SCC for the last 6 years, and could not imagine a more supportive, fantastic, engaged community to be a part of. The director and teachers are simply the best you can find. Some highlights for us are the center's invitation to incorporate diverse family cultural traditions, sensory play, screen-free learning, and a curriculum inspired by the childrens' up-to-the-minute interests. We are so very fortunate to be a part of this nurturing and supportive community. As a family with two working parents, I truly don't know what we would do without SCC.

  • Love! A special place in my heart for this place. Two of my children "graduated" from here, one kid in 2016 and another in 2024 and it was still the same strong child-centered mission: Hands-on, screen-free, age appropriate activity-based education in a loving environment.

  • I simply cannot recommend SCC more highly. My child attended preschool here and is now in the after school program - and is LOVING it. The director is truly one of the most organized, honest, and generous caregivers I have ever met. The teachers are the best of the best -- creative and kind, silly and supportive (as need be). The facilities are welcoming, safe, and fun, and the constructivist philosophy is more than some banal statement on the website; it guides their day-to-day practice. Just drop by and you'll see what I mean! In my family's experience, SCC is quite clearly the best, most inclusive, positively-oriented, and connected children's center. We consider ourselves profoundly lucky to be a part of the SCC community and think it's one of the best resources in our little community!

  • We have had children at the Sewanee Children's Center for the past 6 years. It is a wonderful place and our children have grown so much during their time here. If you are looking for a creative, caring, and supportive childcare center, you couldn't find a better one in the area.
