We moved to the area and this was our first time sending our 7 month old to daycare. The staff provided paperwork in the beginning for us to write down our son's schedule and they would follow it in the classroom which they did not. Our son's schedule got completely thrown off and was not sleeping at all to the point where he had fallen asleep on the carpet from what the teacher had communicated to us which was a safety concern to us. We understood that starting daycare would be an adjustment however we were very communicative and open about our sons needs/schedule and there was no follow through and the teachers just did what they wanted without checking with us first which was really frustrating. He constantly got disrupted during his naps. There is not enough staff in the infant classroom to take care of 8 babies. Being new to the classroom our sons needs were not a priority and nor was their enough effort in trying to make him feel comfortable as well as adhering to his schedule which was why we originally picked this place because of the staff being able to follow what we do at home. Teachers did not take the time to get to know our son and ask questions about him. We picked our son up in the afternoon after only being there for two days and he was very ill and a phone call was not made to us. We picked him up and he had a runny nose, cough and was completely disoriented. He had a 102 fever and after notifying the director she stated that she was in there shortly before we picked up and he did not feel warm to her which he was when we arrived. Mind you, he was completely healthy when we dropped him off. A temperature was not taken and we were not notified. He ended up getting an infection due to the lack of cleanliness in the classroom and teachers not sanitizing the diaper changing area or proper hand washing per the diagnosis from the ER. We had spoken with the assistant director about our concerns and there was no follow through or effort to try to resolve the issues. When we went to pick up our sons belongings the director did not allow access to the building and handed us our sons belongings through the door and closed it in our faces very rudely. Do not recommend this place for the infant program. Wish things were handled and done differently. There needs to be more follow through and care for the children and communication between staff parent, and teachers.
Kristina BoulaisApr 14, 2026The academy of Powell Place is the best academy in Tennessee. Carla and Tiffany are amazing directors you can tell by the staff in every classroom knows my two sons and are so warm to them. I've been to multiple centers for my two boys and this one has just exceeded all the other ones just by the care, the attention and the growth that I've seen in my two boys that have attended there is amazing! My youngest son is 3 learning to read! My oldest has son 5 knows how to write all of his letters, says all letter sounds because of Ms.Maddie and Ms. Karen. we adore them for the love and growth my boys are having. I will always recommend The academy of Powell Place.
Ashley GainesApr 2, 2026Both of my kids have had a great experience at The Academy of Powell Place. We have had at least one child at AoPP for the past three years, and the teachers, staff, and administration are supportive, caring, and truly exceptional at managing the care and learning of young ones. I have recommended the Academy to many of my friends and will continue to do so!
Patricia PeñaApr 2, 2026I cannot say enough great things about AOPP! We transferred my 5 month old from Kiddie Academy to AOPP and it truly was the best decision. My baby girl started in infant 1 room, both teachers were incredible. Ms. Sarah and Ms. Mattie are so sweet and caring. You know your baby is being taken care of. As a first time mom, it was really hard to leave my baby with strangers but I felt so secure leaving my baby in their hands. My girl is now in infant 2 and thriving! She has some separation anxiety which makes it hard (on both of us) but knowing Ms. Sandy & Ms. B take such great care of her puts my heart at ease. Even the management is incredible, I would recommend AOPP to everyone! It’s a very family-forward center!
Mallory BeckMar 26, 2026We love the Academy Powell Place! Both of my kids go there and they genuinely love going to school everyday! Not only do I feel very safe, I know my kids are part of the AOPP family! The teachers and staff make all of us feel like part of their family and have watched our kids grow up! I would highly recommend AOPP to anyone looking for a safe, fun, caring school with great curriculum such as their enrichment program! Thank you AOPP team!!
