I can not adequately put into words how much I LOVE this daycare center. I have had my oldest in their care since he was 4 months old (he is now 7!) so we have had plenty of experience with each class and most of the teachers and they all are fantastic. The director (as well as the admin staff) is so accommodating and really takes the time to get to know our whole family. There is no other center I'd rather have my kids at!
McKenzie WhitenerMar 8, 2024I love this daycare! They're super attentive, and are always communicating with me. We've had our young toddler here for about a year, and we've never had a problem. They always let me know of even the smallest things (i.e. small bumps and falls, which is totally going to happen), and I love that they send me pictures of the activities he does throughout the day. It's very structured, and there is a consistent schedule throughout the day (mealtimes, play times, nap times, outside play, etc), which I LOVE; this is almost like a preschool structure. They have locked gates and doors at all times, and always let the parents know of any virus/sickness exposures. They are very open. They follow an accreditation model (I forget the name!), and that also means a dietary guideline for meals, so I never worry about that. I would 100% trust your child here. They have a consistent, full time teacher in each class, and then have several aides and part time workers that rotate on each day and at different times (like am and pm), which is probably why some reviews say there are different caretakers on different days. I'm sure it's so hard to get consistency when some of their workers are students! I don't mind this at all. It's been great for my kid to get used to different people taking care of him! They also let you drop in whenever you want, and are super flexible once you get in. I know there is a waitlist in the beginning, but it's been totally worth the wait. I'm a first time parent with an almost 2-year old, and I've been super happy. Daycare can be tough! :) Full disclosure: we have our child here 4, full-time days a week, and my husband is staff and faculty at SLCC. However, we still had a wait a little to get in last year! I've also heard that some non-SLCC affiliated parents had to wait, but only for a few months (4 or 5 maybe?). It really does depend on the time of year and the age and number of children you need care for.
Megan WhittakerAug 11, 2023My children consistently had different caretakers when I dropped them off. They where here for 7 months and cried at every drop off until I removed them, they now attend different childcare and have no issues. Communication was lacking as well. My daughter started having issues with her private areas and when reported to Holly she never responded back after I requested to watch the camera footage she claimed she watched. I reported them to the state but have yet to hear back. SLCC has much better options for childcare nearby that’s worth the drive. Taylorsville campus has a fantastic center. I’m not sure where they went wrong here.
Krista SpurgeonDec 1, 2022I am happy with the staff at Tim and Brenda Huval; my 4-year-old daughter likes to go a lot, her teachers are amiable and well disposed of, and the administrative staff is always there to help you with the best aptitude. Thank you because I know my daughter is doing well in this center. I'm a student at SLCC
Tatiana WilkersonAug 8, 2022Next time you confidentially tell us our daughter will likely be able to get in in the Fall after being on your wait list for 9 months.... don't excitedly leave a message 5 months later (now Feb.) and tell us you have an opening. Literally there is no way to get in for services so wouldn't it be better to say that?
Jeffery ScottFeb 3, 2022My child was pressured to pottery train and one and a half, was not ready to potty train and teachers kept pushing my child who was under two years old. It out a lot of pressure on us as parents and my child still has issues with the potty today and is almost five. Multiple times I observed that the staff did not follow the teacher to child ratios- especially in the baby room. We ended up leaving the daycare because of these issues but more than that because I had stopped by a few times in the middle of the day to see my child and even though we were told we were always welcome I received feedback it would make it easier for their staff if we just did not visit our child. I was working two full time jobs and sometimes would go see my child on lunch to get family time. It was very discouraging- also their billing was always off and that was extremely frustrating.
