  • Coming from Dallas, Tx - Clean masjid. Amazing views (From someone used to construction and traffic) Shiekh gave a solid post Isha lecture, Articulated and spoke very well. Knows how to throw in a joke and wake people up.

  • I generally avoid writing reviews about mosques, but I felt compelled in this case. I attended Jumu’ah prayer at UIC on November 7, 2025, and unfortunately the experience was troubling. There were several practices that, to my understanding, fall under bid‘ah (innovations) not done by the Prophet ﷺ nor his Companions. The imam began delivering a lecture before the adhan, allowed people to pray sunnah before it, then called the adhan, followed by another short talk before the prayer. The structure felt disorganized and incorrect. I am not sure what methodology or school of practice this masjid follows, but it is concerning to see such practices being taught especially to new Muslims, who rely on their local masjid for authentic guidance. Additionally, the imam’s delivery while narrating the incident of the Prophet ﷺ drinking honey and ginger tea came across as disrespectful. Rather than conveying the lesson with wisdom and etiquette, he stated the story bluntly in a way that diminished the honor of the Prophet ﷺ. As an imam, one should be extremely careful in how prophetic traditions are presented. The mosque itself is architecturally beautiful, but that holds little value if what is being taught inside is not aligned with authentic Sunnah. I sincerely hope they review their practices and return to the teachings of the Prophet ﷺ and his Companions with care and precision.

  • When an imam expects others to come to him for Salam, it is worth remembering that humility and kindness are among the greatest Sunnahs of our beloved Prophet ﷺ. A simple smile, a warm greeting, and genuine care for the people — these are the qualities that bring hearts together and strengthen our communities. Sometimes it feels as though our priorities become misplaced — we talk much about collecting funds, yet hesitate when it comes to spending for the joy and unity of the community on blessed occasions like Eid and other gatherings. May Allah purify our intentions and guide us all toward sincerity and generosity. And to my dear brothers and sisters who rush out after Jumu‘ah as if the world is on fire — let’s remember that the prayer is not complete until our manners reflect it. Respect on the road, courtesy in the masjid, and humility in our hearts are all part of our worship. Our cars, our clothes, our wealth — none of it will matter before Allah, except what was earned and used with taqwa and gratitude. May Allah grant us wisdom, good manners, and the ability to embody the Sunnah in all that we do. Ameen.

  • This Mosque is extra special to us, that’s where my hubby took his shahada! He loves to come here. We had been praying jummah here together & we love it. It’s a fairly new mosque & I love how beautiful it is. Very clean & well organized. We look forward to come every week to pray on Friday. If we live close by we would come every day Insha Allah.
