We had very high hopes for king's way LC as it is linked to the school which is highly rated. Unfortunately, the learning center seems to operate completely separate from the school. We started her at 2 years of age until she turned 3.5. Our experience was hit or miss. We had lots of teacher turnover in two of our daughters classes. In one class year, we had 3 different teachers. I noticed that the parents are not really allowed to be involved in classroom activities. It is strongly discouraged for parents to meet other parents or be involved in any way in the classroom. I found this to be very odd as I know I'm other schools, parental involvement is encouraged. In addition, my daughter ended up having severe encopresis or constipation. They are allowed only certain times to use the restroom (as there was no restroom in her last class) and per our daughter, she didn't want to bother the teachers when she had to use it outside of that time so she would hold it in. Eventually, our pediatrician explained it was likely in part due to not having a bathroom in the classroom. Unfortunately, this caused accidents where both the teachers and administration (in particular the VP of the learning center) were informed and instead of being supportive, they said she would have to figure it out or they would kick her out of the school. We felt very sad about the way they treated us and our daughter during this crucial time when she needed a lot of patience and sensitivity. There were multiple incidents of the teachers not communicating to us about our daughter in person, but then later we find out that something else was being said to administration. After the threat of being kicked out, we promptly moved her to another preschool who was very accommodating with her situation and within a week in that loving environment, she was having BMs at their school with no problem. The way they treated her was very sensitive and encouraging and it worked wonders. Another issue was naptimes. My daughter stopped taking naps at 3 years old but was made to take a nap in the dark (no windows in the class) and no books or toys for 2 hours. Kids have so much energy so I'm not sure why this was a rule. She would get reprimanded if she made a peep. She would get so upset about having to go to school bc of this long nap they enforced daily. We are very glad we switched her to a different school where she is now thriving but are sad that we had to leave a Christian environment (we are a Christian family) bc they were not loving and encouraging to my child towards the end.
