  • I did a lot of research on daycares in this area after the recent suspension of their program, but I couldn’t find a comparable one. The teachers and admin staff are so friendly and caring, with genuine love for the children. The school offers a low teacher-to-student ratio, spacious and cozy classrooms with high ceilings, a large climber in the playground, and daily mini excursions to nearby parks, the UW campus, and museums (they even take the bus!) — opportunities that few other daycares can offer. My son grew so much in every aspect while at this school — socially, linguistically, emotionally, and physically. His fine and gross motor skills, math readiness, potty training, and hygiene all improved tremendously. He used to be a shy and quiet boy before joining, but soon became a confident. Most of all he was happy while at school. We’re moving to another city soon, so we won’t be able to return, but if we weren’t, we likely would have waited for UTCS to reopen. Our family was also impacted by this unfortunate event, but we still miss UTCS! Sending lots of love to this wonderful community — I truly believe we’ll get through this challenging time together.

  • Our son started at UTCS in the youngest classroom, and has been in the school for > 1 year. The teachers were incredibly caring and supportive to my child. It was challenging at the beginning to transition from home care to the daycare environment and new routine. The incredible teachers tried their best to make our transition a success, my child has since really enjoyed going to school. Like other reviews said, what we love most about this school is the daily outdoor adventures they provided to my child, this really makes this school standout from other daycare we toured. I’ve seen how much my child had benefited from this outdoor life and adventures in nature, he’s grown to be a joyful, curious toddler who enjoys the friendship with his friends and teachers. The recent challenge of a major construction project at the building forced the school to close temporary, but we are very impressed and appreciate the honesty and transparency the school provided to us, they really put the children’s safety and wellbeing above all else, other schools under the same condition did not provide such transparency of the safety conditions.

  • Teachers here are great, reslly awesome people and do care children. But school admin and board is awful. The building is full of lead and admin is very slow to react, trying to keep all their customers and incomes by delaying full disclosure as possible as they can and offering weird "half opening" and luring with fake hope, consuming all energy and PTO of working parents. And they made a final decision of school closure at the very last moment, putting working parents in extremely unstable situation.

  • UTCS was originally located in a nearby temple, which is where the namesake comes from, tough it is non-religious. We've had such a wonderful experience with the school in the last year since our son joined when he was 12 months old. The teachers are incredibly caring and attentive to each child, you can really see that in the way that they communicate with the kids and because they always make time to talk with parents at pick-up/drop-off if any special attention is needed or there is a fun story to share. We appreciate that our son also gets to do hands on cooking and art projects every week. One of our favorite parts of this school is that the kids go outdoors to the nearby parks every day and have lots of outdoor time, that was especially important for us in our decision to go here. When we first joined we were also very pleased with the fact that they have a 1 week gradual transition for each new student, so it really made it a much smoother process for our son when he was transitioning from home care to the new environment. I was initially hesitant to start him at preschool around that age but it turned out to be the best decision for us.

  • We are so happy to have found UTCS for our daughter! She has grown to be confident and independent, and to have such a love for the outdoors since they spend so much time in parks nearby. The teachers are so loving, and have built such a sweet community among the kids. The best part of our day is getting the photos and updates about what the kids are doing. Even in the youngest class they are doing art, cooking, and lots of exploring. We love UTCS!

  • My daughter loves UTCS and we feel so grateful to have found such a wonderful daycare! She is so confident and happy here because of the amazing environment they have created. The classrooms are spacious with high ceilings and lots of natural light, and they get lots of outdoor time at the playground, UW campus, and nearby parks. The teachers are so caring and plan all kinds of fun activities for the kids - cooking, art, excursions to the Burke Museum, etc. Communication from the teachers and administration is great, and we get photos and notes everyday about what our daughter is up to.
