Beautiful nature area! The trails are relatively short, flat, and well marked, making it great for strollers. We used the library explorer pass, so entry was free. Otherwise, I'm not sure the $10/person fee would be worth it. We spent a little over an hour walking through the paths.
KimberlyAug 8, 2026What an exceptional place, we visited on one of the hottest days of the summer but we were glad we did. This Nature Center should be on everyone’s list from anywhere in WI or IL the tier was cool and the lakefront beach was amazing!
Jenny - Collin NiemeyerJul 16, 2026My husband and I got married May 16th at the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center. When I say that we had the most PERFECT day, I am not exaggerating. From start to finish they helped us with EVERY step. The amount of love and care they show their nature center is the same they show to you on your wedding day and all the months/days leading up to it. We personally worked with MaryBeth and when I tell you she is THE person you want helping with your wedding, I’m not joking. She is so kind, responsible, and SO organized. I was definitely a type B bride, I didn’t have a timeline until days before, I literally had no idea what I was doing. She was BEYOND helpful with everything. From helping me build a schedule to saving the day when I COMPLETELY forgot to make table numbers so that our guests would know where to sit. Day of, I literally stressed about NOTHING. She and the other wonderful, amazing workers had everything handled. (along with my beautiful, wonderful family and friends) So not only are the people amazing and attentive and will answer all your stupid questions with so much patience. (I was a mess, ok?) the venue itself is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! There are a lot of places to choose to get married, but the Schlitz Audubon is the only place we thought felt like our love. Authentic, always growing and changing, and pretty! We got married outside, had our cocktail hour on the porch, and reception inside. The lights, the wood, the birds, the seating, the tables, Emerson (the turtle and permanent wedding guest), the bartenders, EVERYTHING was perfect. (I wish I could relive that day over and over again). If you’re wondering who to give your money to for a venue, choose the Schlitz Audubon. Their mission is one that we can all support and you will have the TIME of your life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also so many beautiful places to take pictures :)
Abigail WebbJul 8, 2026The park trails and wetlands are excellent. We've not yet been to the physical Nature Center building so cannot speak to that. Upside for us, with three younger children (triplets, aged 10): plenty of great hiking, interesting flora and fauna, well laid out, clean, sense of safety and security. Downside: pretty significant hit at the park entrance, with $10 per person in your vehicle, it was a $70.00 outing for us. Yikes! This isn't putt-putt golf, a movie, the zoo/science center/planetarium/aquarium, or dining out. It's a walk in the park for gosh sake!
Doc Who? (Doctor Who?)Jul 1, 2026This is a beautiful place. It feels like it's a long ways away from the city. But it's not. We enjoyed several of the walking paths. Some are accessible and none are too long. Beautiful place for a wedding, too.
Bethany BrunsmanMay 23, 2026Wonderful place to visit...admission is lower than a movie for adults and kids. Multiple trails well maintained...one going to the Lake Michigan...Beautiful!

Questions parents ask about SCHLITZ AUDUBON NATURE SCHOOL
Is SCHLITZ AUDUBON NATURE SCHOOL a licensed child care provider in Wisconsin?
- SCHLITZ AUDUBON NATURE SCHOOL holds Wisconsin licence 6000577866-002, listed as "LICENSED" by the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families in Milwaukee County, licensed since 2003-09-08. Confirm current standing on the state's provider search at childcarefinder.wisconsin.gov before enrolling.
What is SCHLITZ AUDUBON NATURE SCHOOL's YoungStar rating?
- The directory shows no YoungStar rating for SCHLITZ AUDUBON NATURE SCHOOL. YoungStar participation is not universal, so a provider without one has not been rated rather than been rated badly, and it is licensed and regulated either way.
What are SCHLITZ AUDUBON NATURE SCHOOL's hours?
- The state directory lists 08:30 AM-12:00 PM, Jan-Dec, full time. Wisconsin records the daily window but not which days it applies to, and hours change without the licence record changing, so call ahead.
What ages does SCHLITZ AUDUBON NATURE SCHOOL take?
- The licence covers 3 years to 5 years 11 months. That is the span Wisconsin licenses the provider for, not a list of the rooms it runs, so ask which age groups it is actually staffing.
Does this page show inspection results for SCHLITZ AUDUBON NATURE SCHOOL?
- No. Wisconsin publishes licensing violations for each provider, and none of them are included here, so nothing on this page reflects SCHLITZ AUDUBON NATURE SCHOOL's inspection history either way. Read the violation record on the state's provider search at childcarefinder.wisconsin.gov.
