I see there was a review two months ago that said staff was very rude and unprofessional. While my kids have never been in care here, my eight-year-old son was riding his bike around the neighborhood and came home suddenly crying, saying someone that worked here was SCREAMING at him and chased him off the property calling the cops on her phone. He was TRAUMATIZED. AND he's special needs... I got my kids in the car to come up and figure out what was going on and the lady, Macy, was quick to come out and let her frustration out on me. She snarkily smiled and stuck out her hand saying, "Hi, I'm Macy, I'm corporate" when I said I was going to contact corporate. She was clearly upset and told me that he almost ran over a kid in the parking lot. He says this is not true when he actually had stopped when he saw a kid walking by and the parent thanked him. She also said another staff member already told him to get off the property and he said this was not true. He would have told me if he had been told. My kid is the type of kid who tells on himself when he does something bad. I told her that when there are situations like that, remaining regulated as an adult is important, and she started yelling at me, (while parents were walking in between us to pick up their kids mind you), telling me that he was putting others in danger when he actually wasn't. I didn't know he was riding his bike in the parking lot of a preschool mind you, but he was enjoying saying "hi" to the kids apparently (we homeschool). If he was asked to leave, he would've left and never came back. I can tell you that much. He said he apologized and she yelled "Get off!" And he apologized again and she yelled again while chasing him. Anyway, the very rude and disregulated "manager" (Macy) said she would counter my review, but just know that there is no way on God's green earth I would ever entrust my children to her care. Super unprofessional, even in "talking" with me if that's what you call it. **My son was NEVER asked to leave. He was enjoying saying hello to the kids. He's a CHILD, and shouldn't be yelled at and chased by a grown adult for simply riding his bike in a parking lot... From several other reviews I see this is not new behavior for you. My prayer and hope is that you can get the help you need, because it's quite disturbing to think that you are in charge of a child development center. More confirmation that I made the right decision to stay home with my kids after my military service so that I never had to put them in a place like this in their formative years. We drove by the place today and my son got upset remembering your erratic, unprofessional behavior. I apologized to him once again and encouraged him to forgive you. Please, for the good of society, DO BETTER. **

J CFeb 13, 2026My daughter attended Yahara River Learning Center until we were abruptly disenrolled over a billing mistake that was caused by the daycare’s own bookkeeper. They processed tuition from the account I have previously discussed was closed, then accused me of nonpayment even after I provided confirmation from both the active bank and Procare/Tuition Express showing the payment was processed incorrectly. Instead of resolving the issue professionally, I was met with hostile and unprofessional emails from the bookkeeper Lisa saying “you lied” “we are not playing games” and was told my child was “unenrolled” immediately. The owner Macy then informed me that my daughter’s father could still bring her but that I was no longer allowed on the property—despite our 50/50 legal custody. When I arrived at the center to discuss the situation calmly due to their avoidance of communicating, the police were called to escort me off the property, and the owner falsely claimed to them that I hadn’t paid tuition since September and no longer can communicate with them. This was humiliating and completely untrue. As a licensed professional and a mother, I’m deeply concerned by the lack of professionalism, false accusations, and discriminatory treatment shown by this center. I’ve filed a formal complaint with the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families (DCF) for investigation. I would strongly advise other parents to thoroughly research their options before enrolling here. No family should be treated this way over an administrative error. Edit: 2 weeks after being kicked out, they took that payment out of the account they claimed was "closed" and added a $50 nonpayment fee even though they refused services.
Fawn AndersenOct 29, 2025Hard to boil down a complex business like a child-care center into a star rating, but here we are! They've handled COVID-19 protocols really well thus far. Rates are fair. Somewhat pricey (see their website for current rates) -- but this is Dane County. I think their rates are fair for what they do. Not their fault that our country doesn't subsidize quality childcare and the entire childcare funding "ecosystem" is an absolute mess. But I digress... My son loves (almost 4) loves YRLC. He's challenged there every day and has stories nearly every day about how nice and supportive his teachers are. He has made great strides (emotionally & with skills and independence) since he enrolled here. We discussed 4K placements with him, and he seemed upset at the idea of considering another placement. Children get attached, of course! But it's great that his experiences are positive enough that he wouldn't want to considering going anywhere else. The kids get outside every day and play with "things" in the playground in creative ways. What other daycares do you get a picture of your kid crawling through a hollow tree stump in the middle of the day? I appreciate the freedom he has to get messy and "try stuff" (especially when someone else is in charge of the clean-up!). We'll be sending our next child there when she's old enough without hesitation. I think that says a lot.
Cody StingleyJan 11, 2021Teachers seemed fine the owner though 👎 and as far as their response below we paid the tuition on Friday morning instead of Thursday night nice try though sweetie.

Questions parents ask about YAHARA RIVER LEARNING CENTER
Is YAHARA RIVER LEARNING CENTER a licensed child care provider in Wisconsin?
- YAHARA RIVER LEARNING CENTER holds Wisconsin licence 7000589257-001, listed as "LICENSED" by the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families in Dane County, licensed since 2017-08-28. Confirm current standing on the state's provider search at childcarefinder.wisconsin.gov before enrolling.
What is YAHARA RIVER LEARNING CENTER's YoungStar rating?
- YoungStar rates YAHARA RIVER LEARNING CENTER 4 stars out of five. The rating covers staff education, the learning environment, business practices and child well-being, not inspection outcomes, and it is separate from the licence.
What are YAHARA RIVER LEARNING CENTER's hours?
- The state directory lists 07:00 AM-05:30 PM, Jan-Dec, full time. Wisconsin records the daily window but not which days it applies to, and hours change without the licence record changing, so call ahead.
What ages does YAHARA RIVER LEARNING CENTER take?
- The licence covers 1 year to 10 years 11 months. That is the span Wisconsin licenses the provider for, not a list of the rooms it runs, so ask which age groups it is actually staffing.
Does this page show inspection results for YAHARA RIVER LEARNING CENTER?
- No. Wisconsin publishes licensing violations for each provider, and none of them are included here, so nothing on this page reflects YAHARA RIVER LEARNING CENTER's inspection history either way. Read the violation record on the state's provider search at childcarefinder.wisconsin.gov.
