Our son has had such a wonderful experience at this school! The teachers are incredibly sweet and patient. They manage to create a warm, nurturing environment while also teaching these young kids about boundaries, independence and introducing them to a more structured environment (since it’s many 2/3 year olds first time in “school”). It’s clear they genuinely care about each child’s individual growth and happiness. Additionally, a majority of the teachers are sisters which makes APP feel like you are part of a giant family. Beyond the classroom, the community of parents is fantastic. Since it’s more intimate than some larger programs you basically know every family. Can’t recommend it enough!
Vera NeinkenJun 7, 2026Our child enterred APP at 3 and we immediatly felt welcome as part of a family. Erika's team was always super responsive and listening to us. The presence of Alta Plaza park next to the school is also a great add on as the kids go out (weather allowing) every day. There are also numerous side activities organized (music,....) Last but not least, the community of parent is quite active and organizes numerous event (eg camping trips) that are great both for adults and kids. We made many friends there!
Mathieu PomaJun 26, 2024Amazing preschool. Our then 2.5-yo son spent a few months there when we were travelling to SF for work, and despite the language barrier he immediately fell warmly welcome. He was always happy to go to preschool, and was coming back with beautiful memories of the activities he did there. The kids also go in the park every day, which I found amazing. I had the opportunity to spend several half-days in the preschool for specific activities, and I was amazed by the kindness and calm of the teachers in all situations. APP is one of the main reasons we miss SF so much...

Excellent and caring teachers who really “know” the kids! Well done, APP!
rozana alamJun 14, 2024We have so many wonderful things to say about Alta Plaza Preschool (APP)! It can be difficult to find a preschool that is simultaneously well organized and structured - but also flexible and understanding that preschoolers don't always do things exactly as we might hope! This school achieves that rare and special balance! We needed a part-time schedule and they were very flexible and accommodating. They also offer full-time schedules. The teachers and administrators at APP are very kind, thoughtful, creative, fun and experienced working with children. They also plan so many fun activities in and outside of the classroom for the kids. We really liked the other families at the school and many would sometimes get together for weekend playdates and other informal fun. We liked that the children are divided into 3 different age-based groups but also get to spend time with all of the students during certain activities. HIGHLY recommend APP!
