What California does not publish here

The state publishes when licensing staff visited, not what they found. We do not hold California’s inspection findings, so nothing on this page tells you whether a visit resulted in a citation. A visit count is a measure of licensing activity, and a facility visited more often is not for that reason a worse one. Read the findings in California’s own facility search.

  • Hesitant to tell the world just how incredible this daycare is. We are beyond pleased and grateful to the teachers and administrators of this remarkable school. We were at another French speaking daycare in Oakland previously, and cannot express enough how much happier we are here. The care, the language immersion and most importantly the staff and other families are simply the best.

  • I’m writing this review as a parent whose daughter attended Au Beau Séjour French Preschool Mountain Blvd campus for four years. My daughter started in 2020 when this campus opened. While we were not specifically searching for a French preschool, we quickly became intrigued upon meeting Coralie, the owner. Through our introduction to Coralie, the school, and its curriculum, we discovered a cordial, well-organized, and very welcoming gem of a preschool. We were soon applicants on the strength of ABS’ emphasis on order, respect, and supportive learning. What I can say through first-hand experience is that ABS is a truly special place. It is run with love and exacting attention to the children. Through the years our daughter had different teachers – and of course, had her favorites – but I never felt as if she was even remotely shuffled along an assembly line. Each teacher approached her with the same fresh attention as every other and applied their individual and nurturing guidance. ABS should not be confused with so many preschools out there which are simply daycares; there is a curriculum with a constant emphasis on mental and emotional development, respect, and timeliness. Our daughter experienced hurdles along the way but each time we worked with her current teacher to discuss the issues and work through them. Parent-teacher conferences may sound silly at a preschool but they are invaluable. Through our daughter’s time at ABS we witnessed and discovered her particular learning style, emotional perspective, and approach to challenges. These are all just budding in preschool but they forecast what it is to come in grade school and beyond. Ironically, learning French was the least of her challenges as it seemed to come easily and quickly to her (even in our non-French-speaking household). She passed the French language assessment at Francophone and native French speakers often comment that she speaks French as if it was her native language. While the teachers certainly get to know your child, the parents get to know the teachers. We grew close to the teachers and staff at ABS during our time there (Chloe, Ceylan, Kahina, Samia, Zohra, Liasmine – the list goes on). In fact, we are visiting them all soon even though our daughter is now in kindergarten. The Mountain Boulevard campus has a full teaching staff and two wonderful cooks as well as a full-time maintenance contractor. ABS posts daily photos of the events and activities as well as a weekly menu (as well as notes on what your child ate). *This is a great way to find new recipes at home without cooking a dozen that your child won’t touch.* ABS also hosts several celebrations throughout the year where parents connect and share their favorite dishes in potlucks. We were very lucky to have found ABS and our daughter is now blossoming because of her time there. Merci Au Beau Séjour!

  • Our daughter started Au Beau Sejour when she just turned 2 and barely spoke English. When she graduated, she was a thriving toddler who was bi-lingual (neither parent speaks French) and passed her French language assessment at Francophone. Her TK teacher said she was at the level of a native French child. Much of her development was because of Au Beau Sejour's caring teachers and well designed program. The credentialed teachers helped her grow educationally, emotionally and physically. Each teacher is so caring and thoughtful. Coralie and Chloe are strong leaders with vision. They are communicative and responsive about upcoming events, emergencies and 1 on 1 communication. ABS has a strong sense of community and it was fun to see our little one grow with friends. The school facility is well kept/clean and the pride in ownership shows. Lastly, the lunches and snacks are healthy and delicious - as a parent, it's one less thing to worry about. We highly recommend Au Beau Sejour!

  • Our daughter joined ABS when she was just 2 years old. Now, two years later, she’s blossomed into a confident, joyful, and curious little girl who speaks French fluently, expresses herself with clarity, and carries a natural love for learning. From her first days at ABS, it was clear that she was in a nurturing, engaging, and well-structured environment. Within the first 8–10 months, she was potty-trained, joyfully singing French songs, and identifying letters— all while playing daily in the safely secured and beautifully maintained backyard (thank you, Arturo!). She loved school so much she would hide at pickup just to stay longer! Now she can cut paper with scissors, write her own name, count to 30, and recognize all her letters. She dreams in French, confidently switches between two languages, and brings home stories and experiences that show us just how much she’s growing each day. The Teachers - Our daughter often talks about her teachers — in her first year it was always Tina and Samia; this year it’s Kahina and Safia. That’s because every teacher at ABS is warm, patient, and deeply attentive to the individual needs of each child. They greet parents with genuine smiles, communicate clearly, and create a joyful, structured learning space. We’ve always felt heard, supported, and grateful for the love and guidance they’ve given our daughter. The Food - We appreciate that ABS provides healthy and delicious meals every day. The kitchen team — Liliana and Yessica — do an incredible job preparing balanced breakfasts and lunches, and the weekly meal plan is always sent in advance. It gives us peace of mind knowing our daughter is eating well at school. The Administration - Chloé(the Director), Zohra( the Head teacher), and the whole admin team deserve a huge shout-out. From coordinating daily logistics to ensuring clear and consistent communication with parents, they’re always present and approachable. They’re out there during drop-off and pick-up, ready to answer questions or simply connect with families. Special thanks to Coralie, whose leadership ensures that teachers feel supported and cared for throughout the year. Their proactive steps around wellness and illness prevention have also been so reassuring. The Environment - ABS is more than just a school — it’s a little ecosystem where kids can truly thrive. The space is always clean and vibrant, with gardens growing fruits, vegetables, and flowers. There are chickens that lay eggs — our daughter loves bringing one home to cook! The parking is thoughtfully organized, making daily transitions smooth and stress-free for parents. In short: ABS is an extraordinary place - It’s a truly immersive French environment with a rich curriculum, dedicated staff, and a strong sense of community between teachers, children, and parents. Our deepest thanks to the entire team — Chloé, Zohra, Safia, Kahina, Samia, Tina, Rama, Liasmine, Hiba, Ceylan, Mark, Arturo, Lili, Yessica — and most of all, to Coralie, for building a school that feels like a second home. We’ll forever be grateful for the care, joy, and growth our daughter experienced here. We will miss all of you. ABS is the school every parent wants their child to be~!

  • We love ABS! My son loves going to school every day, and is always greeted warmly by the teachers. He has excelled in his French, and is increasing his social and emotional skills. There is lots of room to play, and the structure gives him the ability to better navigate the day. He always has plenty to tell me about the day! I have always had a great experience with the teachers and administration -- quick and clear communication, and lots of care for the kids. We are also grateful for the staff who clean daily, make delicious meals and manage the property (they grow strawberries and have chickens on site!). I highly recommend ABS!
