What California does not publish here

The state publishes when licensing staff visited, not what they found. We do not hold California’s inspection findings, so nothing on this page tells you whether a visit resulted in a citation. A visit count is a measure of licensing activity, and a facility visited more often is not for that reason a worse one. Read the findings in California’s own facility search.

  • My son has been attending this daycare for two years, and we absolutely love it. The teachers are amazing, caring, and supportive. The new gated security system makes us feel very comfortable knowing the children are safe. My son genuinely enjoys coming here every day. We are very happy with our experience and highly recommend this daycare to other families! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • Wonderful school and programs. I am soooooooo glad to know it was reopened after pandemic. The school is clean and kids are always with happy smile. When my child was learning there (Bright World), she didn't want to leave even it's almost 6pm on pickup time. Highly recommended!

  • My daughter started at Pilgrim Learning Academy when she was just 2 years old, and she has been very happy there for the past two years. The teachers are all amazing and truly know how to handle young children with patience, care, and love. Ms. Shelly, who runs the school, does a wonderful job creating a safe, nurturing, and positive environment for the kids. The school strongly focuses on teaching good behavior along with a well-structured curriculum that helps children become confident and well prepared for kindergarten. We have seen great growth in our daughter, both academically and socially. I highly recommend Pilgrim Learning Academy to any parent looking for a caring and supportive learning environment for their child.

  • All my three kids went to (one is currently enrolled) this school (they were previously known as bright world preschool). They were and still are the best in town offering best value for what they are charging for. As soon as we were made aware that they were reopening after pandemic, we immediately moved my kids over from another school. They deserve a better enrollment. Family run and they have proven themselves over years of services. Strongly recommended.

  • I’ve had a bad experience with a previous daycare. I was skeptical about sending my son who was 2 years old to any day care but I needed him to mingle with other kids his own age. My husband and I searched around and found pilgrim learning academy. We hoped for the best as we sent him. The school has a beautiful space both outdoor and indoor. Everything is well organized and we get pictures of what the kids do occasionally which is very nice to see. The teachers are lovely and the kids are friendly saying hi when they see you. We started off sending him 3 times a week. He cried all three days in the first week. I spoke with Miss Mary his lovely class teacher on how quickly kids adjust to the new environment and she mentioned in her experience, kids that do full week adjust quicker. He did a full week the second week and by the end of the week., he no longer cried. He did not even want to come home when being picked up. He improved in vocabs. and started getting involved with other kids even when we go to church. Something he wasn’t doing previously. Overall I love love pilgrim learning academy and we are so happy we started him there.

  • Shelly and the leadership of this school are second to none. They are warm, kind, and have more experience than any other school in the area. We found them 3 years ago for our first daughter. Our second daughter goes here now and is loving her experience too. We highly recommend Pilgrim and its lovely staff to anyone.

Questions parents ask about PILGRIM LEARNING ACADEMY

Is PILGRIM LEARNING ACADEMY a licensed child care provider in California?

Yes. PILGRIM LEARNING ACADEMY holds California licence 015700550, currently listed as "LICENSED" by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, first issued on December 13, 2021. Confirm current standing with the agency before enrolling.

What kind of child care licence does PILGRIM LEARNING ACADEMY hold?

California licenses PILGRIM LEARNING ACADEMY as a day care center, a category that covers preschool-age children in a centre-based programme. The category comes from the state's own licence record, not from the provider.

How many children can PILGRIM LEARNING ACADEMY care for?

PILGRIM LEARNING ACADEMY is licensed for up to 54 children at one time. Licensed capacity is a ceiling set by the state, not a count of current enrolment or of available places.

How often has California inspected PILGRIM LEARNING ACADEMY?

California records 2 inspection visits to PILGRIM LEARNING ACADEMY, the most recent on February 23, 2024 and the earliest on record December 20, 2022. The state publishes the dates of these visits but not what they found, so this count reflects licensing activity, not results. Read the findings themselves in California's own facility search.

Has California visited PILGRIM LEARNING ACADEMY in response to a complaint?

California records no complaint-driven visits to PILGRIM LEARNING ACADEMY. That means no concern prompted a visit on the public record, which is not the same as a clean inspection history: the state does not publish what its visits found.

Who holds the licence for PILGRIM LEARNING ACADEMY?

The licence is held by PILGRIM BAPTIST CHURCH OF SAN MATEO. California lists the licensee separately from the facility name, so the two often differ. The facility is in Alameda County.
