What California does not publish here

The state publishes when licensing staff visited, not what they found. We do not hold California’s inspection findings, so nothing on this page tells you whether a visit resulted in a citation. A visit count is a measure of licensing activity, and a facility visited more often is not for that reason a worse one. Read the findings in California’s own facility search.

  • I love this school so far and the staff , but mainly the director Mrs. Dayani she’s a sweetheart who made my kids and myself feel so welcome from the start . I had a horrible experience at my previous daycare happy hippo but they made my life much easier especially as a single mom it sometimes gets hard and they are here to help not add stress ❤️ Thank you so much .

  • My son and I have really enjoyed being part of the Shining Star Montessori family over the last few years. Ms. Dayani is a wonderful director with many years of experience. My only wish is that they would put more emphasis on potty-training. The reason I chose Shining Star above other schools is because of the warm, welcoming, and home-like atmosphere. During my tours, other pre-schools felt sterile and too regimented. Shining Star has a relaxed teaching program and a large outdoor yard and playground my son loves.

  • This is a really great daycare. They adhere to Montessori standards, and if you're skeptical, pull up some sample Montessori questions, go in, and start asking the manager Dayani on them. She knows her stuff. At a very competitive rate, this is one of the few daycares I know of in all of this part of Orange County that prices well within the threshold of the federal DCFSA limits. Let's just say that the DCFSA program currently covers around 40-60% of the costs, which is incredible, especially in a HCOL (high cost of living) state like California. Now, with all the logistics out of the way, let's focus on some key areas COST We kinda covered this already, but just to finish the shoehorn on this, there are other daycares that price toddler coverage at $300+. Here, we got priced well under that (still triple digits though, I will avoid giving numbers here since market prices can change, inflation, etc). However, given that there are other daycares that can easily hit $300, even $400+, I think this cost is a key point to highlight for Shining Star. PROXIMITY This daycare is located really close to a freeway entrance/exit, the CA-91 freeway, which is a key transit point for many folks along the freeway. What this allows is for residents in say, Yorba Linda (10 miles away) or even Corona (23 miles away) to leverage the service offerings here at Shining Star by sheer connection of the CA-91. And for part of the CA-91, if you are a FasTrak member you can take advantage of the CA-91's ExpressWay which is a dedicated 2-3 lane in lieu of what you normally find a "carpool lane" to be at. In English? Faster commute time from seemingly far cities like Corona to Shining Star. DEVELOPMENT Ah, the key reason you take your kid(s) to daycare, right? Besides being able to go to work, obviously. The development programs here are stellar. When I walked in at first, there were blocks up against the wall. I asked Dayani to walk me through on how the kids were taught counting, and the way she described it, it was perfectly in line with Montessori standards, notably how the blocks are added in a certain way to teach kids. As far as day-to-day goes, we get standard updates at the end of each day at daycare how our son performed that day, where the wins were, and where the areas where our son needs improvement are so we can continue development later that day/night going into the next day. This ensures consistency between daycare and parent in terms of your child's development and something I greatly appreciate Shining Star doing. A lot of other daycares will just shoehorn copy-pasted development statuses for each day, "he did good" type statements or "today we worked on coloring". No kidding, the sky is blue, what is UNIQUE about my son's development for that day? This place will tell you. I've walked away many days where Dayani will go, "Hey, your son didn't nap as long as the others today, he wanted to play with his cars and is starting to stack blocks together on his own with no assistance". Can you say that about your daycare? -- With that said, these three key values (COST, PROXIMITY and DEVELOPMENT) are great things, but keep in mind, if you are the type of parent that is "free-styling", it makes sense if your kid has a bit of an adjustment period. This applies to any Montessori school, not just Shining Star. You have to understand that if your kid doesn't have key structures at home, then throwing him/her into a structured environment like a Montessori daycare (again, whether or not that is Shining Star), you are going to see some interesting reactions.

  • This is the best daycare in Southern California. My family tried Chino Hills, Irvine, and looked at so many daycares and finally struck gold here. The director Dayani really cares about the kids. How many daycare does the director actually get involved with the kids. My son loves being here and they live up to the Montessori standards. It's easy to miss driving by. It looks empty but it's very active. Super secure. You must call before touring. I highly recommend.

  • My daughter loves this school! and so do my husband and I! My daughter has been coming to this child care/pre-school since she was 19 months. She's learned so much! From her ABC's, writing out her name, to counting to 25+! She's also learned all kinds of songs and dances. They taught her a song for the mother's appreciation program last year and she still sings it to me at bedtime! They also have programs throughout the year and I get to listen to her practice singing and dancing at home. She's turning 5 in Aug. and will be starting kindergarten, but will still continue to come here after school!
