Took my twenty month old twins here for sensory hour, they do a good job with it. My twins however have a hard time with new places so we didn't get to stay long. I do wish there was more it feels like there's a decent amount of empty space that could be utilized.
Richard GAug 8, 2026We recently visited the Dinosaur Journey Museum in Fruita with our 15-month-old. While he had fun, he was mostly interested in the life-sized mechanical dinosaur that moves and spits water. There are also two other interactive dinosaur models that kids can control with joysticks, which was a neat feature. The museum is fairly small—we were able to see everything in about 10 minutes. Inside you’ll find dinosaur bone replicas, fossil and dinosaur displays, a small gift shop, a sand digging area where kids can search for fossils, and even an earthquake simulator. We tried the simulator, but my little guy wasn’t a fan—it scared him a bit! 😂 He also wasn’t too interested in the digging area, though I could definitely see older kids enjoying both activities much more. Overall, I think it’s worth visiting at least once, especially if you’re already in the area. Just keep in mind that it’s a quick stop rather than an all-day attraction. I think children around 6 years old and up would probably get the most out of the exhibits and interactive displays. It’s a cute little museum that’s fun to experience at least once.
Lea LoveJul 10, 2026Inexpensive museum. Very worth the price and 45 minute stop. Nice little gift shop with fair prices as well.
Chris SebastianJun 17, 2026Don't skip this place if you are in the area! It's worth the visit. Highly recommended for families. My boys loved holding real dinosaur bone and poop :) Once in a lifetime experience 😀 You can see some very well preserved dinosaur bones and skulls and learn some cool information.
Mariya MitsinovaMay 3, 2026it was so fun and super interesting to learn about all the dinosaurs see them and each one had information about them and how they used to live. the tour is self guided with cool dinosaur tracks which i thought was neat. the museum even has a little area you can see where the archaeologists work! although you can only see them actively work certain times of days/week. there is a little gift shop too, i got a replica trilobite fossil for only a couple dollars :)) I had so much fun and will definitely be coming back soon!
Pyper TsosieApr 15, 2026We took a group of kids and adults to the museum on a Sunday 40 minutes before closing. The staff was very friendly to us, the children had fun and the adults were entertained. Will definitely go again.
