Our family’s experience at Pikes Peak Preschool was ultimately very mixed. There are staff members here who clearly care deeply about children, and I understand the center’s responsibility to maintain safety for all students and staff. However, after our experience, I think it is important for families — especially families of neurodivergent children — to ask very detailed questions before enrolling. Before enrollment, the center was fully informed that my child is autistic and has ADHD. He was already receiving outside supports, and I proactively involved ABA therapists, BCBAs, and occupational therapy support in hopes of creating consistency between home, therapy, and school. Over time, I noticed significant staffing and classroom inconsistency throughout the day. Teachers and classroom coverage often changed frequently, and as a parent it could sometimes be confusing knowing where my children would be or who would be caring for them at a given time. For some children this may not be an issue, but for neurodivergent children who rely heavily on routine, predictability, familiar caregivers, and consistent regulation support, this environment may be difficult. Another concern for our family was the limited amount of outdoor/gross motor time during the day. My child regulates heavily through movement and sensory input, and I do not believe the environment was consistently able to meet those needs. I also felt there was limited collaborative problem-solving before concerns escalated, despite the center handbook discussing behavioral support plans and intervention processes. I additionally had concerns regarding cleanliness and sanitation consistency within the center. There were times I observed trash or messes remaining in place for extended periods, and after repeated illness outbreaks during the winter months, it left me questioning how consistently classrooms and shared spaces were being sanitized. One particularly distressing situation involved staff expressing concern that my youngest child had unexplained bruising, which ultimately turned out to be purple marker. I fully support childcare providers taking child safety seriously and understand mandatory reporting obligations. However, the situation caused significant stress for our family, and I did not feel it was handled with the level of care and professionalism that such a serious concern deserved. My child’s enrollment ultimately ended following a serious behavioral incident. I fully understand the need to protect other children and staff safety, and I am not minimizing the seriousness of what occurred. However, the abrupt timing of the termination — so close to Mother’s Day and pre-k graduation — made the experience especially painful for our family. I left feeling that while the center may work well for many children, it may not be fully equipped to consistently support children with higher behavioral, sensory, emotional regulation, or consistency needs despite accepting neurodivergent children into the program. I would strongly encourage parents of autistic/ADHD children or children with sensory and regulation challenges to ask detailed questions about staffing consistency, classroom transitions, movement opportunities, sensory accommodations, behavioral support infrastructure, sanitation practices, and how communication and escalation are handled when difficulties arise.
M. L.May 12, 2026This is the best daycare I’ve ever seen. It’s clean, the teachers are present and kind. My kids absolutely love it and have made tremendous progress Easy 5/5
Larry RumrillJul 16, 2025I’ll forever stand by this- best daycare you can find in Colorado Springs. My 5 year old is autistic & she’s been so amazingly taken care of by her angel of a teacher, who as soon as I told my daughter is on the spectrum, said “I got this!” & immediately knew what to do to maintain a SAFE, calm classroom. On that note- my 4 year old son was choked out in his classroom. 1000% unprovoked. There were multiple occurrences between this child and other children all in the same day as well. Let me be very clear, the teachers who witnessed these situations were so on top of it & caught it & corrected that behavior IMMEDIATELY. I’m extremely grateful the teachers are as amazing as they are because things could’ve been so much worse if they weren’t paying attention. Autism isn’t an excuse for what happened to my child. I’m a behavior technician on top of my in home experience with my child. THANK YOU Pikes Peak Preschool for the way you work so strongly with children & the way you do everything you can to accommodate ALL children and their parents. Thank you for protecting children & doing this for more than just the money/numbers. I wouldn’t want my kids going anywhere else, I’ll forever recommend them to anyone looking for childcare!! Side note- if you know your child is autistic, there’s no excuse for not getting them ABA services BEFORE they start attacking other children. It shouldn’t have escalated to this point. My son should’ve never been choked out. PPP is a SAFE place for all of my kids. The director had a tough decision to make and she did the right thing.
AlexisMar 11, 2025* the fact that they had a staff member write a review in regards to my child shows their character and the fact they don’t know how to have confidentiality. I told her he was autistic and i have in email that i would personally apologize to the parent. It is not a parenting issue because when he’s at home he’s a completely different child. He doesn’t act out the way he does at daycare. Having parents/staff members write ugly and untrue things about my child is actually disgusting** Initially loved this place for my son. He is autistic and acted out one time so they temporarily kicked him out. They initially told me if i got full time ABA care that he could come back. When i called to inform them i was able to get the services started ASAP they told me he was not welcomed back. Not once in the 5 days did i get a courtesy call about this. I only found out due to calling myself. Deserae was rude when i expressed that i don’t think it’s fair to not follow through on what she told me. Now i am childcarelsss and left with nothing. I do not recommend them. especially if your child is on the spectrum. They have no care or patience for kids on the spectrum.
LayMar 10, 2025We came here after having a not so great experience at another daycare. Let me just tell you, not only are the teachers amazing but the management staff is amazing as well. They actually treat the kids like kids and teach the kids but in a fun way so the kids are actually engaged in the activities. Since my kids have been going here my son has came home EXCITED to show me he learned how to count on his fingers, and singing all the songs he learned that day. My daughter comes home in a good mood and has a great time while she is there. I highly recommend this daycare to anyone looking for a place to send your kids. I love the fact that it is owned by one person and not a company, because the staff actually cares here and pays attention. We’ve been going a little over a month and I can not say enough good things about them!!

Questions parents ask about Pikes Peak Preschool
How many infants and toddlers can Pikes Peak Preschool take?
- Colorado licenses Pikes Peak Preschool for 20 infants and 24 toddlers. These are the bands the state publishes separately and they do not add up to the licence total, so treat each as its own ceiling. A licensed place is not the same as an open place, so ask about current availability.
Who can help me find child care near Pikes Peak Preschool?
- Pikes Peak Preschool sits in the area covered by the Alliance for Kids and the referral agency Alliance for Kids. Colorado funds these bodies to help families find and pay for care locally, and they can answer questions about openings and cost that a licence record cannot.
Does Pikes Peak Preschool accept CCCAP child care assistance?
- Yes. The state record shows Pikes Peak Preschool authorised for the Colorado Child Care Assistance Program. Authorisation means the provider can accept CCCAP families, not that it has a funded place open now, so ask before you apply.
