I hate to make negative reviews but This is the WORST YMCA I’ve ever been to. ALL the employees I’ve encountered was terrible. Arrived about 445pm I told the front desk I just joined online. She said okay? What do you need from me?? Umm maybe a tour, a key scanner, introduction, where Is the kids area? ….because I obviously came with children. She just gave me a card and said you good. Literally children were running through the adult equipment area freely no kids were wearing shoes apparently shoes for them aren’t allowed 😳 And here’s the kicker I went to the kid zone to drop off my little ones and the employee told me oh we can’t watch them because they need to have socks and no shoes allowed. That policy is not stated anywhere. I went back to the front desk and told her what was said she said oh “who told you that the white girl or black ones? that’s not true and not our policy.” so we went back and the both childcare employees were upset and I mean rolling eyes and all huffing a puffing like the worse attitude. Maybe they felt like it was too many kids in the room already and didn’t want anymore but this is unacceptable!! I just kindly said never mind sorry for troubling you guys and left. I’ll never step foot back in that place again!
Peachh smithJun 30, 2026Really nice gym, excellent costumer service, very clean !
javier rJun 4, 2026Very poor customer service... Young lady at front desk was very rude and unprofessional. Not helpful at act as if there wasn't any type of class or insurance payment available for me
Daphne SandersApr 15, 2026I have been a regional Y member for about 25 years now, and at this Y for almost 14 years. It’s a decent facility and the staff are very kind and friendly. Access has improved, and I have seen some progress with updates and cleanliness. I do have an issue with the classes. I previously attended Zumba and other classes here and had a wonderful experience; however, it seems the professionalism of instructors is lacking. I went to a dance class last night that was scheduled to start at 6:30. I was there maybe 2 minutes early and saw no one in the room listed online. I asked the attendant and she didn’t have any information, but said they have a “5 minute grace period” so I should wait. She also said if no one showed up it might be canceled. I said well I showed up, and since instructors are paid the same regardless of how many people come it shouldn’t be an issue. I waited in the room until 6:40 and went back to the attendant. She also expressed her frustration for not having any information to pass to customers and she said she would speak with her director. I can never seem to get a call back from staff and no one answers the phone, so you can only leave messages. Maybe some classes are poorly attended because the instructors don’t even show up? Also, why is the jiujitsu and a few other “extra” classes so expensive when the instructors are using Y facilities and don’t have that overhead? A extra $100 a month, on top of the membership fees, is steep. Someone should address these issues and take corrective action.
Bernie CarricoDec 17, 2025I really love the Y and I've been going here for just over a year now. The staff is great but there have been more and more issues lately. The front door says the front desk hours open at 4 AM but nobody shows up until 6:30 or 7 now. The 24 hour access door was broken last week and I wasn't able to workout that morning because nobody was there to open the door. There was no email correspondence or text blast sent out notifying members that the door was broken so we all drove to the gym without knowing there was an issue. Later we saw there was a FB post about it but who checks FB to see if the gym is going to be open? I made a comment on the post and instead of addressing it, they just deleted the post and didn't own up to it. Also, it seems the CrossFit class has become more and more possessive over equipment and locking away chalk and certain weights even though we pay the same membership as they do. Why do they get access to these things but the rest of the members don't? I've also heard other members complain about being bullied out of their space to make room for the CrossFit class which doesn't seem fair because, again, we all pay the same membership. I've been trying to call the office number during the day to talk to someone but nobody answers. I know all of these things seem small but they keep piling up. When are we going to see some improvement or at least address these issues? I hate to make this review because the Y is the best option for strength training in town but I feel like I don't have any other options to get answers.
Meghan ZetsNov 19, 2025This YMCA isn’t the best gym but it provides everything you need to get a great workout in. It’s smaller than most gyms and during certain hours you may have to navigate around the masses of gym goers. If you don’t have a creative mind and have a strict routine, you’ll have a hard time achieving those workouts. It has an abundance of cardio machines and only one cable machine. I call this a “prison gym.” If you can find ways to achieve gains in this gym, you’ll have zero problems anywhere else. The staff is super friendly and the price is perfect.

Questions parents ask about Richmond Hill YMCA
Is Richmond Hill YMCA a licensed child care provider in Georgia?
- Richmond Hill YMCA holds Georgia record EX-42812, listed as "Open" by Bright from the Start: Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning in Bryan County. Confirm current standing on the state's provider search at families.decal.ga.gov before enrolling.
Why is Richmond Hill YMCA exempt from licensing in Georgia?
- Georgia records Richmond Hill YMCA under the "Day Camp and School Breaks" exemption. An exempt programme is not licensed by the state and is not held to the same standards as a licensed centre or home, so ask the provider directly what oversight it does operate under.
What is Richmond Hill YMCA's Quality Rated star rating in Georgia?
- Georgia publishes no Quality Rated star rating for Richmond Hill YMCA. Participation is voluntary, so a provider without a rating has not been assessed under the programme rather than been rated poorly, and it is licensed and inspected either way.
Does this page show inspection results for Richmond Hill YMCA?
- No. Georgia publishes inspection and complaint history for each provider by fiscal year, and none of it is included here, so nothing on this page reflects Richmond Hill YMCA's inspection record either way. Look the provider up on the state's provider search at families.decal.ga.gov and read its visit history.
