My son initially started as an infant at 5 months old. Upon starting SBA I loved everything about this daycare -- the staff were friendly, they always had fun activities for the kids like book fairs, themed days, and activities in the summer. There was a warm family feel, and I loved the "bilingual" aspect of them speaking to the kids in Spanish. However, as time went on I noticed there wasn't a huge sense of educational/enrichment structure. The kids participated in "learning through play" but that learning through play never translated to intentionally taught skills that toddlers would need to be exposed to, to support their development. As a concerned 1st time mom, I requested how does enrichment work at SBA, I was shown a deck of lesson plan cards that the state provides but again, whatever they were doing wasn't something I could see in MY child's development. By the time my son was 16 months I noticed that my son was not speaking nor doing certain things that were listed on the CDC milestone for his age range. Originally, I began to beat myself up about it because little by little they would say to me, "oh he's not speaking" or "he's not doing what the other kids do", as though he was incapable or something was wrong with him. This led me to get him evaluated. And once I got him evaluated, I was told he was in line with peers on everything BUT speech and was given ways to practice with him as well as a speech therapist. We started working on those immediately and he of course started to improve. This led me to assess my time with my son and realized after talking more with his therapist and PCP that he's at daycare almost more each day/week than he is with me. So something isn't quite right if he knew nothing until we started working aggressively with him and it ultimately boiled down to he's not being taught anything while he's at SBA, he's only being left to play all day. Not to mention, the supervision wasn't the best because there were several times I picked him up and he had acorns, rocks or wood chips in his mouth that nobody noticed which I had to tell them about multiple times! The beginning of Feb 2026, the director called to say my son was no longer welcomed there because of 4 reasons: 1. He's attached to certain teachers and doesn't want to be with certain workers when those teachers aren't there. 2. When he cries he gets the whole class going and they're already short staffed so they don't want to stress the staff they do have out. Also, some of the workers say they're sick to not come in and deal with him when they're really not sick. 3. When he takes a toy from the kids he doesn't know his strength and hurts them by knocking them down. They mentioned having to create incident reports but my issue is who were these incidents being reported to as I had nothing sent home to sign, no documentation in the bright wheel app, etc. 4. Lastly, he likes to climb on the chairs or toys to reach light switches to turn them on and off. Mind you, we're talking about a child that is ONE!!! The way this information was relayed felt like they made him out to be a monster and a disaster to deal with when these are all classroom management, student-teacher relationship, and lack of structural enrichment issues. These are not life threatening problems that warrant a child to be asked to leave a facility with no action plan leading up to it BUT because in their contract they state they terminate care at any point without explanation, it's what you sign up for when decide to go here. All this to say, this is an okay starting point if you're in a space of needing affordable care for an infant (newborn to 12 months) but the moment your child turns 1 it's best to put them somewhere where they'll be learning more of what they need to support their toddler developmental phase. My son now goes to a corporate owned facility and while it's been a bit of a "culture shock" for him, I can see that there's definitely a difference in structure between the two that further confirms he just outgrew SBA's daycare.

Lindsay FarrellJun 2, 2025We couldn't be happier with our experience at Smyrna Bilingual Academy! From the moment we walked in, the staff has been incredibly warm, welcoming, and accommodating. Our son's social skills have grown tremendously thanks to their nurturing environment. Miss Carmen deserves a special mention—she is fantastic with the kids, and our son absolutely glows whenever he talks about her. She has played a significant role in his development, helping him with social skills as well as activities like coloring, holding pencils, and tracing. The owners and the entire staff are amazing. Everyone is friendly, patient, and genuinely cares about the children. They also prepare fresh food every day, which is a huge plus for us. We highly recommend Smyrna Bilingual Academy to anyone looking for a quality daycare. It truly is a wonderful place for children to learn and grow!
Trevor AllisonJul 31, 2024We love SBA II. We have been sending our daughter here since she was 8 weeks old, and she's now 2.5. She loves her teachers, is happy to see everyone when we drop her off and likes to tell us about her friends when she comes home. She's also learned Spanish, and frequently asks for various things around the house in Spanish. I would definitely recommend this daycare to families looking for a warm, affordable environment where you and your child are treated like family.
Nicole MooreDec 22, 2020My toddler has been going here since I got off maternity leave. I look at several places around and Smyrna Bilingual Academy feels like home. We are in the position to send our child to a more expensive place with all the high tech learning tools but we chose to go with a warmer environment. They wouldn’t schedule a walk thru because you are welcome to stop by anytime. They are very transparent about everything. My child loves it here and has learned so much. Even during the pandemic they have been keeping the kids safe by constantly cleaning. Even my toddler wants to clean all the time. Anyone who has anything negative to say is simply mad that they are no longer welcome. This is a daycare that works to keep our children happy and safe. If you or your child are constantly causing problems I support the daycare denying you services. Even if we move I want to work hard to keep my child in this daycare.
Ashley RigbyDec 11, 2020My children went to this daycare for only a month and I pulled them out. This daycare is very unprofessional and unsafe for children. My son attended here for virtual learning and he would be left in the class by himself raising a concern for his elementary teachers and myself. They would send me emails stating that he was absent or he wasn’t doing work which I didn’t understand because there were only 4 children in virtual and at one point he was the only school age student. Also I would come in around 3pm and the infants and school age kids will be in one room together which is not allowed in childcare centers. They would just be sitting on the floor watching tv without any instruction or activity. It has been several times when I walked in and they would leave the infants in the room alone to come out and talk to parents which is very unsafe. My kids would come home and say the director yelled at them And grabbed them and when you asked the director Ms Linda about the allegations she would take it as a direct attack and start yelling and loud talking me to stray away from the concern. One day I actually saw the director slap a child in the head because they had to use the bathroom which was a final warning for me. I pulled my children out and spoke with both of the owners and nothing was done about the director. I immediately filed a police report and contacted the state about this matter and I hope the children who attend here I safe. As long as Ms Linda is the director here I would not send my children here!!!!!!!!! This place just take money they do not teach children and most of the children are small so they can’t express themselves like a 7 year old can. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
