The Southlake Y is a beautiful facility with friendly staff and an excellent swim area. We're particularly thankful for the baby/toddler water exploration program. Our instructor, Rebecca, saw that our child was anxious in the pool. Rebecca responded by giving our child extra attention and praise and offering ideas to help build her confidence at home. We're very thankful for Rebecca!
JessJul 28, 2026Love the building overall, but I don't like the fact that within the 30 minutes of being in the shallow indoor pool with my 4 year old, the life guard stated that it would be closed off and we have to move from the shallow pool. Before I made a 20 minute drive, I checked the time of when it would be open. Then upon of asking the lifeguard a question of when it will open back up, the young girl didn't want to answer so I asked another life guard. Need to train the lifeguards on how to better communicate with people.
Ashley DotsonJun 19, 2026The place is nice and big, and the equipment is not my issue. The bathrooms on the gym floor are nasty. Since they allow both men and woman there is pee on the seat, on the floor. The bathroom smells like urine. The track is hard to walk due to people standing in it. I would have thought the staff would intervene but no, the staff is lazy and does as little as possible. There is an older white lady at the e gym and she is rude and short. Clean the bathroom and hire good employees.
J RumJun 5, 2026My husband and I had our SECA scan with Lauren today, and we had a great experience! She was very knowledgeable, helpful, and took the time to explain our results clearly. She also shared helpful tips on how we can improve our eating habits. We’re grateful and really appreciated the time she spent with us. We would definitely recommend her! 💯
MiahMay 8, 2026I have always gone to the y. Even went to summer camp as kid, I have family members that teach there in the south. I moved to cp a little over a year ago now, and I joined this ymca within first 2wks. Im a sahm, I wanted my son to go to the preschool and thought I would use the gym. Back home my son did swimming and sports with the y. Everything I tried to do here failed miserably. This location is the staff’s playground and the members can go kick rocks for all they care. I have never had so many rude issues, and I’ve never felt so unwelcome. 1)after workout I liked to grab a drink from cafe and wait for my son. Older rude lady said internet was down on her register. Gave it about 10mins and went back, asked her if I could have a drink while I wait, I’d be there for another hour and would be sitting right in front of her, she very rudely said no then went back to talking to her guy friends visiting her. 2)signed son up for baseball, coaches showed up once on second weekend, never saw them again, no communication on app, parents ran the sport. Sports admin showed up several weeks in and told us we were sitting in the wrong spot and moved us across field far from our kids, made this even more difficult to run, and no apology for no coaches. 3)signed son up for ninjas, young teacher never introduced herself or spoke to parents. I asked her multiple times for the $25 tshirt I bought, she said she didn’t have it on all 4 occasions and never gave me any other options or money back. Ninjas was cancelled one week and I was never told, the response was that I should’ve checked the newsletter. 4)preschool went wonderfully his first semester with ms julie, his next semster with ms shannon and ms amanda was constant issues, rudeness, and lack of communication. Idk how there could be this many issues 2hrs a day 3days a week. 5) signed up for easter egg hunt and invited other family and kids. It was chaos and the hunt was: they line up 10 eggs in front of each kid and say go… end of hunt… not even worth it. No one cares here. This place ended my lifetime relationship with the y. I talked to 3 diff people about this here already, please don’t reply with some number to call, just get your staff in order.
KCMay 2, 2026I never had any issues with gym, people, equipment, reception, BUT I am giving 1 star to the kidszone employees, the area 0-5 years old. Playroom or Kidszone is a total nightmare experience almost every single time. My oldest daughter literally developed phobia going there. “Are they gonna call you again? I didnt do anything wrong, mommy”, she is afraid to cough even. Are you gonna make her afraid to breath too? I wish I never had to use that damn playroom but that’s the only way I can get my work out in. This playroom is implanted there so that parents can work out with ease and peace instead the employees there are making everything possible to make it VERY VERY DIFFICULT. They are literally using every single “policy” as an excuse to send you home is what it feels like. Obviously I can’t work out once they call me to pick up my kid. I am wasting my gas, my time, dragging on the cold 3 kids from the parking lot to the playroom requires tremendous physical energy just to be called after half an hour is beyond annoying . My daughter has a chronic cough every single winter, they don’t want to hear nothing they just send us home. The only positive thing is Chris Mallers, who always helps me with playroom issues when playroom workers are refusing to listen to me. This is a very frustrating situation. Because of people like the employees in the playroom, you think a lot that you are punished for having kids and can’t workout because they literally won’t let you spend 2 hours in the gym area in peace. Then, why then ymca has a daycare in the first place? As a note, I took my two boys to the former Omni for 5 years until they went to school, I was never called once, let that sink in… My advice, don’t go there in the afternoon during the week with kids. There is micro management going on there where every child is looked upon through a microscope. That doesn’t happen on the weekends because it’s too busy and probably not during rush hours. The less kids there, there more likely, they will call you.
