We had a wonderful experience with Children of America. Our daughter truly enjoyed her time there, and we couldn't be happier with the care, education, and support she received from the teachers and staff. They created a nurturing, engaging, and welcoming environment that helped prepare her for kindergarten. One of the things we appreciated most was how clean and well-maintained the facility always was. Safety was clearly a top priority—they use a unique door access code for each family, which gave us peace of mind. Another feature we absolutely loved was the live video access, which allowed us to check in on our daughter anytime during the day. It was incredibly reassuring, especially during her first few months. Having the facility located near a fire station also added an extra sense of security. As our daughter transitions to a nearby kindergarten, we are grateful for everything Children of America has done for our family. We highly recommend Children of America to any family looking for a safe, caring, and high-quality early childhood education program.
zerihun tadeleJun 25, 2026I've been meaning to write this review for almost a year. Whatever you do, don't send your child(ren) to Children of America in Bowie. My child attended this abomination of a school for 5 months in 2025 and the experience was always questionable at best and abusive at worst. Some of the things we saw while my child attended: Ratios: The classroom ratio for my child's age at the time was 1:3, and yet it was almost always1:5, 6, or 7. That is unsafe and improper, and leads to incidents because the children are not properly supervised. Staff turnover: COA-Bowie has a had time maintaining consistent staffing. While frequent turnover is common in Early Childhood Education, the fact that my child had 3 different lead teachers in their short 5-month stint at this location is indicative of the kind of learning environment being cultivated. While we're on the subject of staff, the quality of staff, in particular summer staff, left much to be desired. On numerous occasions, I found myself watching adults sit on the floor of the classroom, not engaging with the children. For context, the 1:3 ratio is required for ages 0-2; so children under 2 were being left to their own devices. Abuse of children: I witnessed a staff member pick up my child by their arm and fling them. When I arrived at the school 7 minutes later, I learned not only that the cameras don't actually record (meaning it was her word against mine), but that the school will not give the first and last names of the classroom staff, which forestalled my efforts to press charges for child abuse against the perpetrator. This was not the only instance of child abuse that occurred while my child was in attendance at this school, just the only instance I witnessed my child experiencing. I spoke with another parent who removed their child for a similar reason. In short, send your child here if you want them neglected, abused, and to receive absolutely no support or recourse from COA's corporate office (which was also unhelpful in resolving the issues satisfactorily). This place is awful, and I hope the state shuts it down. UPDATE AFTER COA’S ABYSMAL RESPONSE: COA confirmed no such thing because COA’s cameras do not actually record. It is the word of staff against the word of parents who have no reason to make up lies about a bunch of teenagers. COA also would not provide me with the staff member’s last name even after I filed a police report and made clear my intention to press charges against the staff member. COA also had that staff member in spaces with my child after the incident. COA made attempts to contact me and was successful at every attempt—do not misrepresent your negligence as a company as though it is my own. I have screenshots of the classrooms not being in ratio in numerous days at numerous times. I also still have the email threads where, despite repeated requests, COA failed to resolve the matter. Offering a $100 credit and “your understanding” means absolutely nothing when someone’s child is hurt, left with abusive staff, and the company refuses to actually terminate the staff. COA doesn’t care about your children, only their bottom line. Also, please note that I am a 15+ year educator, so when I say that COA fails to meet basic standards, I know what I’m talking about.
MiaJun 22, 2026We did a tour with the director about a year ago and liked the teachers and location, so we put a deposit down to book a slot for our child for when we are ready to enroll him. A month ago, we decided that we were ready to enroll and got back in contact with them. We spoke to the assistant director and she said she would email the updated pricing info, but she sent over the enrollment packet instead. We emailed back asking for the pricing and never heard back. Two weeks later we scheduled another tour to talk to them face to face and the assistant director was the one that did the tour. We mentioned she never got back to us through email and she just brushed it over. By the end of the tour she said she would email us a food exception medical form and find the answers to some of the questions we had, but she never did. We tried emailing her, and again we heard nothing. I called today to touch base and first spoke to the assistant director. She seemed to remember us and spoke to corporate about some of the questions I had (but never contacted us), and kept saying she would send the forms again. I asked to speak to the director, and she was very rude on the phone. Her tone conveyed that she was annoyed and she cut my wife off while she was asking a question. She also said all the medical forms are in the welcome packet, but the food exception form was not. The communication has been horrid the past month and I feel like we dodged a bullet. I guess that’s why they dropped their prices.
Bernard VernaJun 2, 2026My family and I recently moved to this area so we wanted to find a curriculum based daycare & after care similar to what we had previously. We were happy to have met Ms. Dess and her team welcome us into their lovely facility - it is clean, organized and includes an indoor gym with a spacious playground. So far, it has been a great experience with the teachers who are attentive and care deeply about providing support to our children. All meals and snacks are provided which helps make our mornings smoother. Rates are reasonable and competitive for this area, however it is lower than Celebree nearby.
Marie MullingsJan 14, 2026My baby has been coming to COA for about a year and a half now. The teachers are all great and care about the kids. A major plus is the operating hours 6:30 am to 6:30pm, this fits my busy schedule! Most importantly, I feel like my baby is safe, loved, and cared for every day. This gives me peace of mind and means everything to me. I’m very grateful for the staff and the environment they provide.
YaniqueJan 13, 2026Family Pictures and Activities Day with my Granddaughter was amazing. There were lots of activities and fun. The staff were friendly and warm. My granddaughter was so happy to see me, decorate cookies, dance, and take pictures with Santa Claus. Thanks for allowing me to visit.

Questions parents ask about Children of America Bowie
Is Children of America Bowie a licensed child care provider in Maryland?
- Yes. Children of America Bowie holds Maryland licence 1746218808596x703229474539692900, listed as "CONTINUING - FULL" by the Office of Child Care, Maryland State Department of Education in Prince George's County. What does Maryland record about Children of America Bowie's standing?
- Maryland records Children of America Bowie's status as "In Good Standing". That is a single status field in a snapshot, not a compliance history, and it is not the same as a clean inspection record. Maryland publishes inspection findings separately at checkccmd.org and they are not included here.
How many children is Children of America Bowie licensed for?
- Maryland's record lists 15 infant places and 30 school-age places for Children of America Bowie. Those are the only two age bands this dataset publishes, so they are not a total capacity and do not describe toddler or preschool places. Ask the provider for its full licensed capacity.
Does this page show inspection results for Children of America Bowie?
- No. Maryland inspects licensed child care programmes and publishes the results through Check Child Care Maryland at checkccmd.org. Those reports are not included here, so nothing on this page reflects Children of America Bowie's inspection history either way. This page's record comes from Maryland Family Network's LOCATE service, which carries licence and status data rather than inspection findings.
