I do not recommend this daycare. My child often appeared unhappy and not themselves during their time here. The photos sent frequently showed my child looking sad or unwell. My child was often moved between different rooms, which disrupted their learning and routine. The center also seems to struggle with recurring illness outbreaks. Additionally, both the staff and manager displayed passive-aggressive behavior and appeared to favor their own children over others. My child has been in a different center for a few weeks now, and the difference is remarkable. I wish I had taken my child out sooner. It makes me feel terrible, and I truly feel as if they mistreated my child.
Not ya businessDec 18, 2025Both of my kids attend here and this daycare/school is absolutely amazing. They have been in every single classroom from infant up to peek. I have never worried about them at all. The teachers are so caring and go out of their way to send photos and texts to ease your mind every single day. It’s also a plus that it is right next to to court house. It gives me a peace of mind that all those police officers are nearby.
Amanda PludowskiOct 4, 2025The director of Potomac Early Learning Center is highly unprofessional and rude, and I will no longer allow my children to attend this center. She made a false report about my wife and me to DHS claiming that we are neglectful. She claimed that we didn’t provide our daughter lunch. The truth is that we forgot her lunch at home once, but I brought it later the same day and handed it directly to the director. Of course, the latter was left out of her report. In her report, she also depicted me drastically out of my character, stating that I yelled at her, threw my arms in the air, and stomped out of the building after learning that my son missed the school bus one day. She might as well have said she saw steam come out of my ears to finish this fictional description of me. Ironically, I asked her the next day during drop-off about the report, and during this conversation, she fit that description more than I ever have. She became extremely defensive, and I witnessed her placing her hand in front of two children’s faces when they approached us, loudly saying, “I am talking, go back to your chair. I am talking, go back to your chair.” Along with the false report, this was another serious red flag, as I do not want her to talk to my children in this manner. Referring to the previously mentioned bus situation, the center made my son and his peers miss the morning bus and failed to notify parents until 6 P.M. that evening. When she notified us, she lied, saying the bus never came, instead of saying the children were not taken to the pickup location on time. I only learned the truth after asking my son’s preschool about the bus and was told the bus did in fact arrive on time, waited, and left when the center did not bring the students to the pick-up location. Finally, my daughter was bitten three separate times, and the staff of the center did nothing to intervene to ensure it doesn’t happen again. Each time we asked for a copy of the incident report, it was never provided. Overall, the director is unprofessional, and this “early learning center” should not be trusted to watch children.
Lee StuJun 24, 2025The Director is extremely unprofessional and will file false reports of neglect. Back story: I received a note from my child’s teacher saying she needed diaper cream. This confused me since I provided a full tube to them only a few weeks prior, and there had never been any signs that it was used on my child. I sent a message to the daycare staff on the app they use to communicate with parents in response to their request, informing them that I would not be supplying any more diaper cream because it’s an optional/non-mandatory item, and I didn’t feel my child needed it. No one from the staff responded. A day or so later, I received a call from DSS saying that they received a report accusing my husband and I of being neglectful. Not only did the director exaggerate the diaper cream situation in the report by lying that my child had a rash when she didn’t, the director also said we don’t always provide lunch. There was only ONE day that we accidentally left our child’s lunch at home but we dropped it off later that day. Conveniently, she left out the fact that we indeed provided lunch later that day. She also said that my husband was aggressive when talking to the staff. Again, this is completely untrue, and anyone who knows my husband would agree that it is not his character. It honestly feels like the director stereotyped him and our family. Adding on, she never had the courtesy to come to my husband or me directly with any of her “concerns.” As I stated earlier, I never received a response to my message to the staff. All of this could have been a conversation, but the director went to the extreme of filing a report with DSS instead. Stay away from this daycare unless you want false reports filed on your family.
Caitlin StuartJun 22, 2025My children have been in care at PELC for the last five years, starting when they were 1 and 3, and our experiences have been great. Both knew so much going into kindergarten that I worried they'd be bored! The teachers have become like friends and family, and our children continue to return for summer camp. I have always felt confident they were being well cared for, emotionally and physically. I appreciate all they do, especially Ms. Kaye and Ms. Shavona! Thank you!
Megan JohnsonAug 24, 2023My daughter has been going here almost a year and we’ve had nothing but good experiences. She loves her teachers and they know her well and are attuned to her needs.

Questions parents ask about Potomac Early Learning Center
Is Potomac Early Learning Center a licensed child care provider in Maryland?
- Yes. Potomac Early Learning Center holds Maryland licence 1746211423465x504937562284030850, listed as "CONTINUING - FULL" by the Office of Child Care, Maryland State Department of Education in Charles County. The licence is recorded as Continuing - Full, running to March 31, 2027. Confirm current standing with the Office of Child Care before enrolling.
How many children is Potomac Early Learning Center licensed for?
- Maryland's record lists 6 infant places and 16 school-age places for Potomac Early Learning Center. Those are the only two age bands this dataset publishes, so they are not a total capacity and do not describe toddler or preschool places. Ask the provider for its full licensed capacity.
Does Potomac Early Learning Center operate all year?
- Maryland records Potomac Early Learning Center as a "Full Year" programme. That is the schedule on the licence record rather than a timetable, so confirm term dates and closures with the provider.
Does this page show inspection results for Potomac Early Learning Center?
- No. Maryland inspects licensed child care programmes and publishes the results through Check Child Care Maryland at checkccmd.org. Those reports are not included here, so nothing on this page reflects Potomac Early Learning Center's inspection history either way. This page's record comes from Maryland Family Network's LOCATE service, which carries licence and status data rather than inspection findings.
