  • My daughter has been attending for 1 yr. We are starting the new year out and I have never met staff or adminstration as dedicated to these young people as this. They truly want to help these kids become successful and productive young adults. They go out there way to do it. They have a zero tolerance policy in place and Ms. Leslie ( principal) follows it to the t. She has no favorites and I love it. You could not ask for a better school "family". I highly recommend this high school. It truly offers a second chance for kids who need the extra push of confidence to get through high school. Hat's Off to Madison Prep!

  • My daughters have been attending Halfman for 6 months now. We moved down to this area from a rural community with an excellent school district and a very active community. At first I was in shock with the differences in the school district. At first glance, Halfman is notably deficient in funding and resources for quality playground equipment and classroom supplies. Many of the Kindergarten items are quite old and warn, and much of the playground equipment is broken. I was highly concerned at first. Since that time I have to say that I have been so impressed by the dedication and drive that the staff has to teach these children everything they can! All of my daughter's teachers and parapro's are warm, knowledgeable, and more dedicated to their student body than I've experienced elsewhere. They are creative with what resources they have and I would guess pay for numerous things out of their own pockets. The state of the Michigan economy and the cuts to education funding are abundantly clear in this school district, yet despite that my daughters have really flourished in their educational gains at Halfman. Having a more actively involved community and a larger PTO would be a tremendous boost for this little school. That said, no amount of money can replace the sheer determination, commitment, and kindness the staff at Halfman devote to their student body.
