Okay hear me out, yes the comments and rating looks disappointing but let me tell you. My son has been in the Beagles room it is his second time this year and the teachers have been AMAZING. They are very sweet, understanding and listen to everything! I even had a teacher help my son be potty trained so that’s already a bonus for me! The director was messy the first year 2024 I sent my son yes, but this year 2025 the directors the people are extremely friendly and MUCH MORE ORGANISED! My son is way more fluent with his English (English is our second language) and he is now a social butterfly I couldn’t make him even say a word before! I absolutely love their food routines of what they eat and they even write it down for parents to see their menu of the day. (Even month) they ask for allergies and even become so considerate to not give that food and give something else for that child due to it! My son can’t eat pork so just for him if the meal has port they change the protein! Everyone has a different experience a different story but as a Muslim mom who needs help to trust the school and teachers I can say I’m going to bring my daughter here once she turns 3 to have the same experience like her big brother !
Sabinanin MutfagiDec 11, 2025I love that my daughter wants to stay at school. She begs me to pick her up late. Her teachers are so amazing, thoughtful, and helpful. The staff is so nice and welcoming. It is a great place, great staff, and great education for my girl!
Erin RandolphMay 30, 2024Extremely disappointed on how children on the spectrum are handled here. If staff are not equipped or lack knowledge in caring for these children, families should be notified prior to enrollment. This displaces the child and causes a disruption in learning and normal activities, as well as causing a tremendous burden on the parents due to the lack of child care services availability (openings) in the area already. Very disturbing and heartbreaking .
Rolonda JohnsonOct 28, 2023This place is very unprofessional. How do you kick a baby out because of his disability. Makes you not wanna trust this place at all. We as parents trust in these type of places to make our babies that has disabilities feel loved and welcomed. And this establishments doesn’t provide that at all. DONT TRUST THEM
Brittony DeboeOct 27, 2023Does not welcome children with special needs. Very unprofessional And all the kids that had special needs no longer go there because of the lack of comprehension and patience they have for them. I highly do not recommend them. And its discrimination with kids that have special needs.
Shonie KOct 27, 2023This center is very unprofessional. They hire new people every other week, but lack professionals or individuals skilled to work with children with different needs. It's very clear to see that a majority of the people employed in this facility are not there because they actually care about children and their wellbeing; they are there to collect a paycheck. I would not recommend this facility to anyone or trust my children there whatsoever!

Questions parents ask about Downtown Child Development Center
Is Downtown Child Development Center a licensed child care provider in Pennsylvania?
- Yes. Downtown Child Development Center holds Pennsylvania certificate 100221926-0041, listed as "LICENSED" by the Office of Child Development and Early Learning in Erie County. The current certificate runs to December 1, 2026. Confirm current standing at compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch before enrolling.
What is Downtown Child Development Center's Keystone STARS rating?
- Pennsylvania rates Downtown Child Development Center STAR 4, on a scale of one to four where four is highest. That tier took effect on August 27, 2025. Keystone STARS measures programme standards such as staff qualifications and learning environment, not inspection outcomes.
Does Pennsylvania record a negative sanction against Downtown Child Development Center?
- No. The state's provider dataset records no negative sanction against Downtown Child Development Center at the time the record was published. That is a single field in a snapshot, not a full compliance history, and it is not the same as a clean inspection record. The licensing inspection detail is at compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch.
Does Downtown Child Development Center accept child care subsidy?
- Yes. Downtown Child Development Center holds a subsidy agreement with the state. The agreement covers these age groups: Infant and toddler, Preschool. An agreement means the provider can bill the subsidy programme, not that a funded place is free today. Eligibility is decided by your Early Learning Resource Center, Early Learning Resource Center for Region 1.
Does this page show inspection results for Downtown Child Development Center?
- No. Pennsylvania completes at least one unannounced inspection a year at every licensed provider, and publishes the results through the provider search at compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch. Those results are not included here, and there is no open dataset of them, so nothing on this page reflects Downtown Child Development Center's inspection history either way. Look the provider up there and read the licensing inspection record.
