  • This center is an absolute joke that isn't funny at all because your child's future is no laughing matter! They do not put the welfare of your child first. For the management it is all about doing things whatever way they choose at the moment. You have no control over what transition they subject your child to. Room changes, random substitute staff, former teachers gone without a trace. The new owners took over about a year ago and so far the place is much worse than before. We have been here for a few years and when the previous owner left, we were given a promise that things will improve. So far, things are not improving much, but somehow there is a tuition increase. The new owners talk about being with them on their journey. There is little concern about actually making things better. There is minimal investment in educational toys, equipment or things for the children. Just lame and vague promises of new programs. Parents are supposed to just deal with it. The leadership is terrible. Since the new company took over, it has been one horrible director after the other. They cannot keep employees. Staff members quit on a regular basis. An individual that your child bonds with and loves is not a staff member, but someone who turns out to be a temporary employee until new staff arrives. Those staff people will be there and then quit, probably from the frustration of this environment. Do yourself a favor and seek a child care center that upholds higher standards already. Not one that takes almost a year to get things together, keeps talking about positive changes but never delivers. Children are resilient thankfully, and we've been patient but we are now on a waiting list for another center! I cannot wait until the spot opens up.

  • Do not attend this preschool if you have any hope for a positive experience for your child. It is an absolute nightmare. This place has been in a transition stage for nearly one year — complete with cookie cutter statements about how dedicated management is to fostering your child’s journey. If that means a journey of strangers being with them day after day, then they are accomplishing that. There will be random new people in the building every single day. No introduction, no welcome. Just new faces. If your child bonds with anyone there, I hope they don’t get attached because they’ll disappear one day with little explanation after the fact. People you think work there don’t actually work there. They’ll disappear too. Turnover in daycare is common, but this place is ridiculous. If you say anything or ask anything about it, you will get a brief, curt response or you’ll get another scripted statement. Another thing is that this place is rundown and falling apart. There are really cute interactive wall puzzles and magnetic blocks, but otherwise there are only a few toys in each room. Most of those toys are old, don’t have all the pieces, parts, or even batteries to make them work. There is only one window in the entire building where the kids are and it’s so high your child can’t see out anyway. The lower floor is dark and has no windows. Good luck with playing outside. That area is also run down with limited equipment, hard asphalt and random junk. I’m sad to have to say this because I sincerely hoped things would improve and thought it would be more disruptive to switch daycare centers. There are a couple long time staff members who do the best under the circumstances, but they can’t be everywhere in the building. Now I realize that it was worse to stay because it directly impacted my child and no one else should have to tolerate this situation. If you have other options, seriously consider them instead of putting yourself and your child through the negative experience that is this preschool.

  • This daycare is substandard. My child attended for a few months until we could no longer tolerate their unprofessional ways. They never had enough teachers to watch the kids, and the teachers they did have changed every day. The management was late with information about what was going on in the daycare. It was a new rule or way of doing things every day. If you asked a simple question, the supervisor acted like you were stupid and shouldn't inquire about your own child or concern. It was a miserable experience.

  • If I could leave less one than one star, I most certainly would. This daycare center is an absolute disaster. The facility was taken over by a chain or an out of town group of investors. It’s ironic because nothing has been invested in this center at all. The curriculum they talked about is not implemented. There is very little in the way of organized activities or enrichment. The equipment is old and not at all age-appropriate. It’s a huge center but your child will be trapped in one room for most of the day. Outdoor play would be nice if there was something for the children to actually do. At least the former owner was kind and genuinely seemed to enjoy children. The new director is rude and uncaring. It’s no surprise they have such frequent staff turnover. One day, a new staff person is there, the next week they’re not. It’s a revolving door of random people, some of whom seem miserable to even be there. Staff that you grow accustomed to turn out to not be staff at all. They’re from an agency and don’t actually work there. If you have a child who is verbal, consider yourself lucky. I feel sorry for parents who are at the mercy of these individuals who are there now, happy to take money for your tuition, but not happy with this place otherwise. Take a tour of other daycare centers before or after visiting this nightmare center and consider yourself warned.

  • This center is terrible. There are different staff and substitutes on regular basis. You do not know who will be with your child. Toys are old, broken and missing parts. No art, no lessons. The director in charge is rude and stern. Promises to have the center be better are not coming true. I am so happy my child will not to be there anymore.

Does RIVERSTONE ACADEMY accept child care subsidy?

Yes. RIVERSTONE ACADEMY holds a subsidy agreement with the state. The agreement covers these age groups: Infant and toddler, Preschool. No. Pennsylvania completes at least one unannounced inspection a year at every licensed provider, and publishes the results through the provider search at compass.dhs.pa.gov/providersearch. Look the provider up there and read the licensing inspection record.
